Based on my experience with the HobbyKing X-Car esc's, it was not possible to change any of the settings without the programming card. Only thing I could do without the card was calibrate it to my radio. That being said, the $5 I paid for the card was totally worth it. Extremely easy to use and makes adjustments in the field a breeze. You did not specify which esc you have so yours may be different.

or get the $20 led programming box. every time i bust that thing out at the track i get resentment because i can switch perameters in seconds. and they rx8 and cc have bulky laptops you have to run around
