Default Looking for an inexpensive new motor

Hi all,

The integy 35t that came wigh my 2ndd hand scx 10 seems to be giving up the ghost, and as such, I will need a new motor soon.

I was wondering if anyone had a suggestions for a reasonably inexpensive motor of around the same specs, that can be driven in water/mud occasionally?
My budget would be about 50$ cad including shipping.

Thanks!

If you plan on driving in mud and water you really need a comm lathe. I would buy a used comm lathe and some brushes and try turning the motor that you have now. If you buy a new motor you are just going to be back in this position after some time in the mud/water. If you want a new motor go ahead and get one but you need to maintain it, especially with the conditions you are using it in.

Invest in a motor lathe..You can rebuild 5 to 7 times before needing a new armature if you don't over cut the comm each time....When you do need one its only maybe 15 20 dollars for a new armature as opposed to 35 or more for a new motor every time... well spent investment if you want to run brushed motors.

Or simply just buy the cheap sealed can motors for 10 12 dollars and buy a new one when I quits.

They don't have to be expensive. I think I paid like $55 for mine and It came with two machine wound broods and a hand wound brood. I bought a brand new bit on ebay for a couple bucks and I was all set up and cutting comms.

Yep..its already paid for itself in 2 uses over buying a new 35 dollar motor every time.

Exactly. It's also amazing how much nicer a cheap motor is when the comm is actually round after it has been cut. Brand new the cheap motors have a comm that is anything but round.

Agreed...I always touched up my comms on any motor I bought new when racing and still do..Almost everytime they were out of round enough to hear that intermittent scrap as it corrects the shape.,,usually a thousandth or 2 cleaned them up.,,Big difference in power and brush life.
