Default Running MMP with no fan, any concerns?

I removed the fan from my MMP for my new 2.2s build, I needed the clearance after it was mounted. Shafty is using LCC axles and a 13.5 Novak crawler motor on 3s.

I have 2 questions with this setup:

1. Should I be concerned with this setup and ESC heat with no fan?

2. How much battery does the fan use when running? I'm curious if I can change to a smaller lipo now to save more weight.

There are other factors involved. Gearing, driveline efficiency. But should be no problem.

I would be more inclined to try a 17.5 or 18.5 on 4s. I ran a MMP with the 18.5 crawler on 4s without a fan, not a problem.

The fan does not run until it needs it, so it does not draw until it needs it.

If you plan on comping, definitely a smaller battery. I run and 850mah and it feels large. I can get three courses out of it, really that is too many.

Thanks, that's good to know. I do have a Novak 18.5 crawler motor too but no 4s... I'm hoping to be able to use my small 450 sized 3s with this set up and switch batteries each comp instead of using my bigger 1100 for all 3 courses.

I've also been wondering if a mamba micro pro could work with the same setup instead of the large MMP. Any thoughts on if the smaller ESC would burn up or sustain with that motor and 3s?

Running MMP without a fan is no sweat. The worm drives will overheat before the ESC.
Mamba Micro is a non starter, since it's sensorless only!

Make sure your 450mh offers you enough amp draw capacity with the brushless in a bind.... Those worm axles can consume a lot of power just to make them move.

My thoughts were the worm drives would take care of the sensorless startup cogging, muy biggest concern would be if the Mamba micro could handle the task of a BL 540 motor on 3s. Any thoughts on that?

I have over/under drive gearing so there should be less binding. I'm waiting for the weather to get nicer in my earier so I can do some testing with it bound up. I'm hoping these little comp batteries will work.

They won't. Even my sensored 2-pole motor has enough cogging while running really slow to make me use a 12T pinion in order to minimize the ill effects.
I could easily go >14T without heating the motor or ESC.

The types of motors and driving style we use for crawling should be no sweat!

I run my MMP without a fan in a sealed box on my 8 pound wraith pushing a 6.5t 550 motor on 3s. No problems with hear so far.
