If you're going to run 4s, you'll need the MMP.... The RS is rated to 3s only. The other one I have been wondering about is the new waterproof Mamba Monster.. A little pricy, but still something to think about. |

Mamba monster is not sensored, or it is not listed as it is, so it would be out for crawling. MMP is a workhorse esc, takes a beating and comes with a great warranty.

Go with a Tekin RX8. (Especially the new Gen2) They are a badass esc that will do everything you need and handle anything you could ever throw at it. |

Necessary?...well that depends. (I like overkill, lol) But the way I look at it, its only a little bit more money for the RX8 and you get a lot more esc. . |

Go MMP. You can find them cheaper if you are looking to save a few bucks, great warranty/customer service, and will handle most everything you throw at it. At the end of the day, either way you go, you will be happy!

Personally I run the rok412 3100kv with a gen1 rs on 3s in a 8 pound wraith and have not had an issue. On board temp has not gone past 3 LEDs . If your gonna run more than 3s then yea rx8. Rx8 gen2 does 7.4v. I think the bec is an option for your setup.

Funny. I have been through 2 RX8's in my short course truck. I guess they can handle anything except a pro4 on 2 cells. The guys local to me buy the RX8's 2 at a time to make sure they can get through a weekend of racing. And sometimes cannot even do that. The weird thing is the MMP that was in there before, and in between, and after has never once even hiccuped. And for the record a BEC is never an option.

Sounds to me like you are exaggerating a bit. Ive never seen any of these problems with RX8s. I think the MMP is a great esc but I prefer Tekin products. To each his own though, he asked what esc we recommended and i gave him my opinion......you can like whatever you want.

I have ran the mmp on many rigs including a rig with pro4 and a 550 7 turn. MMP is a great esc but I have found the tekin esc's to work the best with the Tekin brushless motors. It was new found power and throttle response. I have seen the graphs and charts that show the differences between the 2 esc powering the same motor and it is a large difference in the application of the two. That said, MMP is used in a lot of my rigs that are non Tekin brushless powered. Just my .02 and findings. |

Don't buy into the "Ford vs Chevy" argument. Tekin and Castle both make top notch products. Neither one is "better" than the other. You definitely cant go wrong either way. .
