Default Charging a lipo

So, are there any science in charging a lipo pack, I have a charger with multiple charge current settings, what current setting should I use for a 2s 5000 mAh lipo? Is it max 5A, is it ok if I use lower setting?

A 5000mah pack regardless of cell count is best charged at 5amps, which is a 1C charge rate. Anything less and the pack will just take longer to charge.

There is no magic to lipo's, treat them with respect and they'll be good. Always double check your cell count setting on the charger. Although most chargers now won't start the charge cycle with the wrong settings, while the balance port is plugged in though.

IMO...

LiPo's should be cell balanced during each and every charge.
so an adequate charger offering that ability is a must have.

I charged my 2s 5000mah at 5.0v
less voltage then that ^ would be easier on the battery's consumable life.
But who wants to wait that long !?

Just remember...
LiPo's can burst into flame if over charged.
If a LiPo swells up or is swollen... I wouldn't risk charging it.

Smart to charge out of doors...
or at least always charge with a watchful eye (supervised).
There are "burn bags" available for charging LiPo's safely...
just in case it might burst.

I have only had one 3s LiPo burst on me.
Not something you want going off in the house.

This thread is a good place to start learning about Lipos. It has a lot info in it so it will take a while read.

It's ok to use lower settings, the battery always have the "backward compatible", so low charge current and voltage is ok.

Just be sure your charger is lipo capable, charge at 1c, balance the pack and your battery will last many hundreds of cycles.
