Default Auxillary battery for Lighting

Maybe this has been covered but I couldn't find an answer. I was curious if you use an auxiliary battery (lypo) for lighting, what or how is it wired so as not to over discharge the battery? I know it will ruin a lypo to over discharge it but how would you know other than the lights going out.
Thanks for any info.

you could use a 9v batt for your lights or plug them in to your 3rd channel and get a switch from HEYOK to control them

I use a separate 3s for my lights. Its not hooked up to anything except the lights. After about 45 mins of run time I swap it out and run a different 3s lipo. Haven't had an issue yet with recharging and balancing. And for a point of reference I run duel Crawler dad V2 light bars(5"} and 3 V1 3" light bars!

Thanks guys, I really do appreciate the replys. I am just starting to do the lighting as I would like to run the night stages of the comps around. Heck maybe I will implement a night run here (if it ever turns summer) Once again thanks.

If your rig is already running on 3S, I suggest using the one pack to run both your ESC and lighting. The ESC's low voltage cutoff (assuming that it has one!) will let you know when it it time to put in a new pack. Running the lights will shorten your run time, but I think it would hardly be noticeable.

I use a 800 mah lipo battery, run it till the lights die every time. velcro'd to the roof cost me ten bucks.
