Default Motors

Ok gang, time to turn to the experts here, I am wanting to replace the stock Tamiya 27t motor in my F350 for something with a bit more torque without sacrificing speed, motors I am looking at are

1 Associated Reedy MR Outlaw 27 turn
2 Fantom Team Racing 27 Turn
3 Holmes Torquemaster 27Turn

Any others I should consider? maybe look at a 35T motor

Thanks for your time
Steve

Are you running a 2 speed tranny?
I put a 16t HH team pro crawl/crawlmaster pro in my hilux/tf2 with the 2 speed and it's Awesome! I can do rock crawling in second gear and fast bouncing trail.. in first gear it's deep torque to a brisk walk.. fun, torque, wheel speed fun in both gears! Plus it's ever so smooth!

The first motor you mention is a 36 degree fixed timing motor. Not really good for a scaler where a bunching of reversing is used.

The second is also a fixed timing motor at 24 degrees. Better but still not keen.

Stocks were made fixed time for spec class racing back in the day. Some motor cans(full round) you can modify to set timing to what ever. The other stockers had two flat sides so the end bells could not be turned at all.

So in short the third motor you listed would be your best go. Maybe not in turns but in design. 25 -35 turn would give you the best of speed and crawling.
What winnerone said above about a 16 turn involves it being a 5 pole motor. Numbers play a bit different between 3 pole(most common) and 5 pole. But 16 is a good number

A 13t motor will be closer to a 27t motor, a 16t motor is closer to a 35t

I am running the kit 3 speed tranny and did the metal gear and bearing upgrades, I'm just learning about all the different types of motor combos, timing, and 3 or 5 pole.

So I'm just looking for a better "heavier duty" motor than what I have

I forgot to mention I am running a Novak Rooster ESC

Thanks guys

Brushed motors are 3 or 5 slot, but I get ya.. learning is awesome!

I'm all for a 5 slot or crawlmaster motor.
I run a HH 16t Team pro crawl in my tf2 with a 2 speed. By far my favorite setup. I had a 16t crawlmaster pro in my scx and it was perfect thru every range of throttle.
Super smooth crawling and wheels speed without chewing up brushes.

Thanks guys, The Torquemaster pro is on it's way to me.

What does changing the timing do for you?

6° timing is normal. It spins a little faster in forward then reverse, without sacrificing ur brush/comm wear.
