Default Do i need a switch for the BEC AND ESC?

I have a novak goat 3s ESC and motor setup. I installed the BEC that came with it so that I could run 3s. The esc obviously had an on/off switch, and the BEC also has an on/off switch. It is kind of annoying having two switches. Would it be ok to wire in the BEC to the ECC switch? I sent novak an email a few days ago, but haven't heard back from them.

I as well as many others use the battery plug as our on/off switch.

to switch them at the same time, would be fine. Novak wants both switches left on, and use battery plugs as on off. it seems odd to me but thats what it said in my Goat manual.

Why give you the option of having an on/off if the recommended on/off in the installation manual is by directly wiring into the battery.

Just solder the wires of each switch to themselves ( not all four together). Solder the red amd black together for each switch, put some shrink wrap over the wires and like other mentioned (and I do), use plugging in the battery as "on" and unplugging it as off.

Castle even has no issue with this practice

The only time a switch should be left alone is when it has a program button on it. If it's a simple 2 wire on/off switch, chop it and short the wires together. One less thing to worry about failing. As was said, using the battery connector as your switch.

Batteries should always be disconnected after use, switch or not.

Awesome. That is what I will do. Then, I can use the extra switch for my lights

Use the battery plug instead of a switch? Sure, provided it's easy to (dis-)connect with the body mounted!

Mine isn't, so I've hooked both the ESC and BEC to a 2-pole switch that can be operated with the body on.
That way I can (dis-)mount the body (and attach/detach the battery) in a more convenient location than the actual spot where I want to start/stop driving.
Typically I have the battery connected and the electronics off for a couple of minutes at a time.
