Default Running dual 7980's on one axle... advice needed!

I've almost finished the steering setup on my largescale truck but need some help to get over the top...

I've got two Hitec 7980's on a custom mount, that are powered by a CC BEC pro, both servos have Kimbrough #124 servo savers. I have been told that I need to be careful not to smoke them both with a bad setup though.

I'd planned to power them both up via a Y-harness, let both servos find centre and make a tie rod between the two so they aren't fighting each other, then connect it to the steering in the normal way.

Now...some say this will work, some say it won't, some say I need to get a synchroniser, some say I need to get both programmed. I was kinda hoping I wouldn't need to spend any more money on electronics, but I don't wanna smoke two pricey servos either.
I thought it would be ok, as the Summit uses dual servo's in a similar way.

What do you guys think? Thanks

Pics of setup so far (servo savers are now installed but not in pics)

I think with the servo savers on there you would be OK. I used 2 on my super without issue, and I had no servo saver, just tied together with a tie rod. Just make sure when centered they are not buzzing against each other and you should be OK.

I just put dual servos on my super. I did read somewhere open up the deadband so they don't fight each other at rest.

Don't allow them to bind up/fight each other. They get very hot, very fast.

Thanks guys, I've just set the BEC to 8 volts and am making the links now. Will see if someone has a programmer and can open up the deadband a little for me.

Thanks again

Yup that's what you want to do. Program em both and set up right. Ditch the servo savers. Run duals on planes with no issues....... If set up wrong or wrong rates result in tearing up the flaps.
