Default problems with MMP Pro

trying to get my kids rig up and running but i ran into a wierd issue and im stumped on it!

***Not high end stuff here, just to get it running for now!***

Components:
LiPo pack
MMP Pro ESC (programmed to run brushed/reverse)
**Running the motor off RED/BLK wires**
Kyosho Mag Mayhem brushed motor
TRX Rx 27mhz AM
TRX TQ Tx 27mhz AM

Problem:
When i plug the batery into the ESC, the GREEN LED blinks rapid.
The steering is very sluggish.
NO response to TH/REV

what gives here?

self-edit:
battery is charged
tried 3sets of crystals

swapped the servo to another but still sluggish. My guess, its just the low end servos that are the problem here.
Ill end up just buying my 5yr old atleast a hs645mg for now as they are pretty cheap and deliver some decent Tq.

Solar Servo D772 High Voltage 0.17sec@7.4v 64g Digital Metal Gear

I run one of these with my MMP right now and voltage set to 7v. Boulder moving torque for cheap. Takes a 23t horn.

You do have a BEC on it right? If so what's the voltage set to?

not on my sons rig i dont.
Even if i did, i cant set it higher as it would fry this SF-1. Default voltage is enough for this servo.

when i decide to get a better servo then ill consider a BEC. I think the default voltage is around 5v on this MMP.

That stock servo should at least be able to handle 6v. You can turn up the internal BEC a bit from the stock 5 and see if that helps any. It shouldn't do anything to the servo.

i did boost it up tp 6v on this SF-1 and it did help a bit but still lacks the speed and power to turn these tires.
Also checked all the joints up front...

looks as if i need a new servo for his rig. Thanks for the replies!
