| MaxAmps Run Time Challenge
How long do those battery's last? Ever get that question? Well we here at MaxAmps have and wanted to know too, So what better way to find out then to go out and run until the pack hits low voltage cut off. Details: I used my own truck because I wanted the truck to have the kind of power I would use, sure we could have gone with a very soft motor but this challenge was about run time in a real truck on a real trail, no tricks or gimmicks. Truck: Axial SCX10 Honcho, Motor: Novak Ballistic 13.5 Brushless motor, Speed Control: Novak GTB2 esc, Battery: MaxAmps 8000 mah 2 cell lipo **On board GPS recording distance, time and avg speed. The rules are easy, using a single 2 cell 8000 mah MaxAmps pack we started at 9:15 am and ran non stop, No Touch until the battery hit Low Voltage Cut off (6.5V) I had three other trucks following me to turn me over but other then that it was up to me and the truck to conquer the trail. Amazingly, at 5:20 pm the pack finally hit LVC!! 8 hours and 5 minutes using a single MaxAmps lipo pack! We took photos every 15 minutes and streamed them live to my FB, instagram and Twitter through out the day. Below are some shots as the day progressed. |

That's some awesome run time for sure. I'm surprised the novak esc lasted that long. |

I always found it ironic that MaxAmps has flames in its logo.

As cool as it is I don't think most of us will buy a max amps just on price alone. Hell most of us use budget packs since we aren't trying to win a e buggy race.

I can get 2 hours on a 2200 3 cell, Thats about all I need at a time anyway. I'm not sure I'd want the size and weight of an 8000 mah pack on my rig anyway. |

SO lets see a test with a USABLE pack for most of us crawlers. 2200mah? 3000mah max? 1500 mah? 8000mah is way too big. |

The pack is not large at all, as you can see in the photo. Its 1 1/8" thick. The size of the pack was intended to fit into the SCX10 so it would be considered a "usable" pack for a trail style rig. Many people take their RC vehicles camping and would rather not have to charge. I agree going out to do rough trail driving for 8 hours is not normal but I couldn't figure out any other way to see how long this pack would last. I learned it will last much longer then me. ;) |

So your complete truck have run with an average of 1A/h of power for the whole day. Which is rougly 8W/h That's almost the drain of the servo and ESC fan! Not counting the motor! Sorry, but the math doesn't compute! |
