It's been done before by many I'm sure. It's nice for the waterproof ness, but terrible for control since it's not sensored. You can try it, but I promise you will likely not be very happy with it.

You won't find a sensored waterproof system. Only way to do it would be to get it all and conformal coat everything. There has been some rumors of castle coming with a new mmp that is waterproof but nothing yet. You could try that vxl system, or at least the esc and a slower speed motor, but you won't get fine low speed control.
