Believe it or not, I think my bully needs this much torque. My hitec 7955 keeps stalling on rock. Tires too big and swing too much for 333oz.

I beleive it. I've stalled some 300 oz. servos on my Wraith. I think you get to a point in crawling where you are going for those lines where you are actively pressing front wheels on an obstacle but need to steer them to follow a crease or ridge on a ledge/wall/crack.

I run the 7980 (has the same specs) on my sporty which is 3lbs 6.4oz. It has no problem moving the whole vehicle when up against a rock. Although, sometimes I do wish I had more torque. You get power hungry the more you step up in torque

I really think 1000oz-in would be totally reasonable in a crawler. It sure would help keep the transit time up when there is lots of traction.

Just curious, why would you run the 7980 when the 7990 seems to me to be more "cutting edge". Same price, why not get the magnetic encoder feature?

I had heard so many talk about the 7980 that I was just going to breeze on to it, but then I paused, and read about the one in the same class, and decided it was a better choice (seemingly).

The 7980 is available much cheaper from what I have seen.

Your gonna love it, I have 2, 7980th, not too sure the diff between the two but, the amount of torque avail is unreal, i have to watch what i do when i am comping (2.2p) cuz the rear moves around when the front is "stuck"

Congrats on the servo, keep your recipt! 2 yr warr.

Found the hs-m7990 on ebay for 150 shipped and the hs-7980 for 160 shipped. Waiting to hear if we can still get the 2 year warranty.

it's my understanding that hitec warrants all their stuff pretty well forever, regardless of where it was purchased. I don't know that for a fact though.

Sorry, forgot about this..

I actually got two 7980's in a trade.. So that's what I had. No reason other than that

so I got this bad boy all mounted up in my new bully 2 axled nordic crawler chassis and it is awesome so far. I haven't stalled it yet, getting ready to hit the park in a few and really run it through the paces. No electronic glitching from being so close to the motor magnets yet either.
