Neither. Do it right with conformal coating. Its made for waterproofing electronics.

| Re: Corrosion X(HD) vs Plastic Dip Conformal coating is what the OEM uses to waterproof electronics. I use MG Chemicals 419b. Its about $10 from amazon or eBay and is enough to waterproof everything you own. I regularly completely submerge my junk and have 100% success.

| Re: Corrosion X(HD) vs Plastic Dip Take the case off the ESC and brush it on the board working it in everywhere. I let it tack up and apply another coat. Let it dry and put it back in the case. Obviously use dielectric grease on buttons and Rx plugs like you would with any waterproofing method.

I do use corrosion X and silcone on my Pro4's just to keep junk out of them, but even then I've been using conformal on the boards themselves. | |

So is ok to dip the ESC in conformal coating but not the motor / bearing? If it rotates use corrosion x or dielectric grease and not conformal coating? Asking before I do it Thanks! |

Apply the conformal coating as the instructions suggest - the stuff I have is aerosal, so I spray a few coats on to get the proper coverage, but some types of conformal coating are brushed on. I would think that dipping it might result in too thick of a coat to cure properly (think of it like paint). On the last Pro4 I did, I just dipped the sensor board in Corrosion X, then siliconed the crap out of the can everywhere there was a gap with blue electronics safe gasket making silcone. My theory is that if any water finds its way in, the only part of the motor that is really succiptible is the sensorboard. I think I perfer this method because it makes sure your sensor isn't gumped up with conformal coating. I only use dialectric grease on plugs (like the sensor plug) and servo plugs. Hope that helps. Corrosion X is more like an industrial wd40. It displaces water. I believe the conformal coating actually encapsulates the part to keep the water away. Corrosion X works great, but it is more of an ongoing treatment vs the Conformal that I believe would be a single time and you should be good.

Which model number of conformal coating are y'all using?

Instruction are kind of vague, but it does mention you could dip the part. I have the brush on. So I assume that conformal coating the whole motor is a big no due to the bearings, no one have feedback on that. It seem that conformal the board, grease the plug and a few drop of corrosion x at the front bearing is the way to go then? |

The conformal coating is for the electronics. I use silicone and marine grease for mechanical parts.
