| ??? on servo torque ratings
Hello all. In the slow slow process of gathering info for a Axial Wrangler G6 build. I'm looking at the Savox SW1210SG (waterproof) servo. The torque ratings only show up to 6.0V and do not specify 7.4V. I have a 1268MG that I have hooked up to a BEC and its going @ 7.4V and of course the ratings show 6.0V and 7.4V for the 1268MG. I could surely pump out 7.4V to the SW1210SG correct? And I'm guessing that this same can apply to any and all servos? Thanks for the assist! Last edited by el_Fernando; 04-14-2014 at 04:21 PM. |

Some servos aren't recommended to go up to 7.4 volts. I personally don't own any Savox servos, only Hitec and PowerHD, but I would either call Savox or you could wait a little longer on another reply on here. I know from others experience that Savox has decent customer service. I looked on the website, I think from my knowledge, I don't recommend going to 7.4 volts but its your risk. I would think that the waterproofing would cause the heat of the servo to be insulated in the case and the higher volts would make it run hotter. If you have a heat gun you could test it on 7.4 and see if it runs significantly hotter. I am very interested to see what others think of this question.

Not all servos are Hv so if it says 6 v I wouldn't go above that. You will more than likely hurt the servo.I run non hv servos in my gas boat at 6.6 v life packs and have not hurt them .The lower the power you put in to them the longer they last.

You can, but your going to shorten its life. It may not be rated at 7.4v, but Im sure it can take it... but for how long is the real question. I'd just keep it at 6v, or buy a cheap Solar D772 like me and run it at 7.4v. I don't care about waterproofing because I hate water and mud, so that might be a deal breaker for you.
