which tekin esc to get hi im currently running a wraith with a hh trailmaster 3100kv with a novak crusher esc. I want to get a tekin but not sure which to get. rs pro rsx or rx8. pretty much use it for a little of every thing. crawling bashing budding and have a 10 9 and 6 yr old that drive it. help would be great |
Re: which tekin esc to get A Tekin RS will do the job just perfectly! I'm running the same motor in my scx and my sons wraith. Crawling to bashing and 3s to 4s(if you have a 4s cap).. I have been doin some hard testing lately and I can get nice smooth bottom end crawling and wicked nasty top end! If ur drive train isn't built to bombproof, it will be before to long.. ;) |
Re: which tekin esc to get I agree with winner. Plus the RS or rs pro are nice and small, and can pretty much fit anywhere you heart desires. |
Re: which tekin esc to get think ill give that one a shot will I need a fan for it also or does it stay pretty cool on its own. how warm is ur motor running. I haven't actual checked the temps but think if I held my fingeure on ot for 10 seconds I might get burned. im using 16t pinion and 56t spur i believe. |
WOW!!!!!!!! 56/16!!!!! That's crazy talk... That's a 3.5:1 gear ratio.. I bet you would burn urself. Volt up, gear down! I run a 56/11 gearing. That's a 5.1:1 gear ratio.. HH recommends 5:1 bein the lowest you should go with the brushed motors, so I go with that for All motors.. Could I do 56/12, sure.. But instead, I run 4s.. Loads of torque and pretty dam good speed as well.. ;) I don't run a fan and the RS in my scx is inside the electronics box with the Rx.. No issues. |
Re: which tekin esc to get so if I go 3s and run 56 11 would I be about the same speed. getting about 17 mph right now. as u can tell this is my first anything with rc like this |
Were you running 2s before? |
I'm running rc4wd 2 SPd, so I'm not applicable to your talk. But my motor stays cool to the touch |
Re: which tekin esc to get Ya currently have 2s 4000m 20c and a 5250 50c on the way. |

Re: which tekin esc to get Will deff be getting a cple 3s bats. Use the 2s for the boys stampede. This is gonna be my third ESC and don't feel like buying a 4th is the rs pro worth getting over the rs. Or maybe rsx or rx8. This is starting to turn in to an addiction. But love it |
I never ran a pro Tekin ESC, fxr or rs. Have ran both styles on 4s and from 45t to a 17t 3 slot motor and 13-16t 5 slot motors. Never saw a need for a fxr pro. I ran the RS's with 13.5t redlines and now the HH trailmaster bl's on 3s-4s.. With a 4s capacitor, of course. I'm now upgrading my Pro4 to a RX8 from a MMP. (Not a castle guy) So if you Want to spend more money on a pro model or a RX8, you can. In my experience, it's not needed. Unless you plan on a Pro4 motor upgrade down the road. Then get the RX8 now. |
Re: which tekin esc to get got the rs and 3s lipo order. cant wait. thanks for the tips |
Good choice |
Re: which tekin esc to get Get the rs gen 2 in the mail today. Perfect rainy day to do some more mids to the wraith. For the 3s battery I have mounted up front. Had the take out one of the Cross members to make it fit and made a new that connects the two mounts where the front upper suspension connects. Seems to be solid enough but was wandering how u got urs put in. |
I actually cut the side off the batt tray and stood it up in front of the trans. I was able to keep all the bracing intact in the front end.my esc, receiver and BEC sit right in front between the bumper mounts. |
Re: which tekin esc to get is your battery tray in the back of ur wraith. |
Re: which tekin esc to get have u guys tried the sway bay on the wraith |
Got it all temp installed. Its crazy fast gonna have to gear down to 11t. Definitely more power and speed than u could ask for. I foresee the need for more hopups coming my way Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk |
No mine is under the good, but right I front of the dash. I had to trim the batt tray and the front of the interior. I also run the rear sway bar and love it! |
