Default AE-2 Caught on fire. What could have caused it?

Was driving it at the park today. Throttle got really twitchy. Stopped responding ... worked for a second or two.

Then smoke started pouring from the esc. The solder on the motor leads melted and came off one of the battery leads did the same. The rest you can see yourself. It is toast... almost literally.

Was using 2s 4000mah sky lipo, and being real easy on the throttle. Stock motor as well in the wraith.

Send it back, They will replace it with another fire hazard. Mine burned up in my house several months ago. Scary

You think they actually would? The car is over a year old.

It may have been, that or liquid electric tape(I got it used). If i get another im going to use corrosionx on it. It went through a few puddles the day before. and looking at it. Whatever was on it to "waterproof" it most definitely was not under the heat sink.

You don't want anything under the heatsink. Other than thermal compound anyways. Just waterproof around it.

Why wouldnt I? The heatsink is thermal glued to the tops of what it needs to cool. The idea of plastidip or something like it scares me. Seems like a heat issue all in itself.

And i was seriously asking why i would'nt want it under the heatsink? I was not trying to be rude at all Robert.
