Default Viable ESC for Wraith with 2 wire motor ?

Hello
I bought a used Wraith, LOVE IT, except it has an XL5 ESC obviously with no drag brake
it currently has the stock 2 wire motor that I would like to use until it dies
is there an ESC I can get with a drag brake that will run this current motor AND allow me to go with a newer motor (3 wire?) in the future ?
or should I just stick with two wire motors ?

it will only be used for crawling

Thanks for any input you can give !

Castle sidewinder will do what you need. Works for brushed (2 Wire) High Power Brushed (3 Wire) and SENSORLESS brushless (3 Wire)
OR You could get a Castle Mamba Max Pro
Does all the above with sensored motors as well.

Thanks
more money than I hoped but a good investment i'm sure

more to this, what would I need to do to hook up my two wire motor to this as it will be three wire ?
can I just leave one unplugged ? or do I have to terminate it somehow ?

You just use the red and black wires. White is not used in this application.
Towerhobbies.com has the MMP for $127 with easy pay on $42 a month.
OR
HOBBYWING North America — QUICRUN 16 Brushed ESC
Currently $21 with free shipping if I'm reading this correctly.
This is what the new axial kits are using. Good for 3s and wateproof!!
Only a brushed ESC though. No brushless. If you're sticking with brushed this is a good go between ESC. It'll give you drag brake and 3s and waterproof. Not many brushed motors use 3 wires.

Awesome thank you !
that will definitely do me until I can afford to move up to a brushless setup
at that time I will look at those castle ESCs they look good

thanks again !

had to add shipping to Canada, but still a good deal
