what are you running and what would you recommend?
In the Poison Dart, I have a Brood Apocalypse 35 turn skewed armature, in my CUCV, I have a Holmes Torquemaster Pro 35 turn (handwound). Same 3S/1300 batteries get run in both. Both have Micro-Sidewinders. Both have 14/87 gearing, stock transmissions and Scorp/SCX axles. Poison Dart has OD front gears, and 2.2 Rovers, CUCV has stock axle gearing, and 1.9 RC4WD Rock Stompers.

Both have plenty of power. The Brood/PD seems to build a lot quicker and hit harder, the Holmes/CUCV has just as much power, but seems to build a lot smoother, not as 'peaky' feeling. Both are buttery smooth at extremely low speeds. I don't really see there being an advantage to either on here.

Both are reliable. Neither one has been in for a rebuild yet, and neither one has had so much as a hiccup. Advantage, neither.

Both have an identical base price on each respective website. My Holmes was purchased "off-the-shelf" over at TCS, so I enjoyed a small discount, but lost the ability to customize the motor. My Apocalypse was purchased off the Brood site, built to the specs I wanted, however options cost money. Both are worth every dollar paid, advantage neither.

The two offer a different 'feel', which may be owed to the different tires, but are both perfectly fine units. I'm not left for wanting with either one. No real wrong answer on this subject.

.
JUNKFOOT has a 30 turn Intensity, I'm not quite 100% where I need to be on this one yet. Not even considering a replacement, though, so it ain't bad enough to want out. Just haven't really 'warmed up' to it yet.

Price is really not much of a concern. But I don't want to just throw money away.

In a nutshell, any handwound will give you all that you want with 35t 3 slot or faster, or 16t 5 slot or faster.

The best performing motor we offer would be a Puller 500 Crawl in 13t. Excellent low end control, lots of wheelspeed, and enough torque to break parts. It's also very light, priced well, and accepts standard parts for inexpensive rebuilds.
