Anyone here have a Weller WES51 soldering station?

Just curious if you do and know any troubleshooting tips for a dead one? I was using mine the other day and it just up and died. Only way I can get any kind of heat out of it is to crank it to 800F on the dial!! Not sure what could be wrong.

I did some basic troubleshooting according to the little manual you get with it. I tried to measure across pins 2 and 6 on the connector but it read like 0.1V when it should read 24VAC. I did measure more than 24VAC when I measured directly on the output of the power transformer. It was like 26VAC. Maybe I have a bad circuit board! This thing has been used so little and never for long periods of time! I am baffled!

I thought Weller was the best but I see I must have found a lemon. I bought it almost 2 years ago.

I have two of them with no issues after 4 or 5 years. Also had one at work that did the same as you describe and it was the pot with the knob that failed.

I have a WESD51 and I love it. I use it almost every day.

I took the handle/iron apart looked it over and reassembled! BAM it was working again! Not sure what the problem is! I hope it isn't a bad pot. I don't feel like spending more money on this thing! I have hardly used it in the last 2 years.
