Default Cheap and Easy Motor Guard

I've been asked about my homemade motor shields. I used aluminum closed nipples for conduit unions that are cut a bit more than half way across.

Grind down the exterior threads a bit so they are flatter, paint it all black, then buff off the paint on the ridges so they're shiny. It kind of looks like the can on some Castle motors.

Start with this:

Cut it a bit more than half, so it will grip the motor:

This is one of my goof up parts. I should have left more material so it fit more snug:

Push it on the motor until it snaps on:

On my MOA:

I think that these are 1 1/4 inchers, but if you go to buy some, take a motor with you to make sure. It's kind of a "trial and error" technique to get them to fit right. I went through 3 or 4 before I was happy with the fit. Any questions, feel free to ask.

That's a great idea......... You could of had the conduit and a motor setting next to each other and I never would of thought of using it for a cover/heat sink

Cheers

Does that create any heat issues for the motor?
