| Dual fxr wiring??
I have a few questions about wiring the two of these up. - serial or parallel? All of the diagrams here seem to be parallel, but the tekin service guy told me series. -if wired in parallel what capacitor value would be appropriate? 3s, so 16v, what uf? -what is wrong with the "squashed" method? Tekin service guy told me it wouldn't work, I have seen it done several times, so I'm wondering the exact problem it causes. I understand they have to cover themselves in case if a problem... Thanks!! |

Looks good, that's how I was imagining it should be, ie parallel. But the tekin rep said it was not a good idea...

Yeah, that's how everyone does it. Should I use a bigger cap than 330uf? |

So then the caps would be parallel, right? That would be the same as one cap with half the uf, then, right? Shouldn't make any noticeable difference anyway, it has had no cap at all for the last year... |

I ran mine like this and it's still ready as a plug in back up, if ever needed.. I run a single 25v cap. Positive on one ESC and negative to the other.. |

Nice and clean looking!! Why 25v? Are you running 4s? Are they wired to the battery in parallel?

Yeah, these two have insane usage and have never even had a cap, lol. But 2 caps in parallel is actually less useful than just one, as it cuts the capacitance in half, I'm pretty sure. I'm hoping some EE can tell me for certain.

Oops, I'm bacwRds! The capacitances add in parallel. I'll just look for one 16v cap at 660uf, or so, since tekin recommends 330uf. The tekin guy was also very opposed to the "squashing" thing, he really seemed to think it wouldn't work well at all, even though it seems to work just fine for everyone here. Thanks! That and it gave me the ability to use just one cap and run 4s if I wanted. The battery wires come straight in from the left, into one ESC. Then positive and negative wires crossed to the other ESC. From front motor from top left and rear motor from right, where the rx wires run. The "tekin guy" isn't/shouldn't tell you anything other then what the tekin "warranty" says.. Like the fxr is only rated for 3s(cause anything over there rating void's the warranty).. But it works for years running 4s with a 25v cap. Smashing the esc's isn't a good idea (cause it void's the warranty when you decase them).. But it works perfectly fine for all of us that run/ran them.. The "tekin guy" may only learn or know what he is told or reads from tekin.. He may not have any actual hands on experience with the application we use..(nothing against the tekin guy!) I'm still full on tekin for my brushless rigs.. HH for my brushed rigs! ;) We have the hands on... It's why we come here for the knowledge and experience for our needs with our applications.. | |

I didn't even have a cap, and it worked just fine! So you should be even safer than I was!
