Older electronics and lipo question I just pick up a sweet clod based monster truck with a CPE Terminator Chassis. It has a Novak Super Rooster ESC and two Trinity Speed Gem 2 Sapphire 17t motors. My question is it ok to run a 2s lipo through the speed control. I do realize that it doesnt have a LVC but I will get and external alarm if I can use these electronics. I would prefer to wait to update the motors and ESC till I run this thing and decide what I want to do with it. Heres the link to the specs. Again its the Super Rooster ESC. http://www.teamnovak.com/products/es...ecs/index.html Thanks |
Re: Older electronics and lipo question The Super Rooster was rated for 6-10 NiMh or NiCD cells. So that's 7.2-12v technically. So, a 7.4v 2s LiPo should be fine. Just make sure you have an alarm. |
Re: Older electronics and lipo question specs from Novak: Specs: Reversible ESCs |
Re: Older electronics and lipo question I run a 2s LiPo using my old skool Novak ESC. Cyclone or something of the sorts. The only real concern you should have is that the old skool ESC's do not have an internal "cut-off" for running a LiPo So you will need get an external mounted cut-off alarm. They usually have a LED and audible alarm... and simply plug in at the LiPo's balance plug. Be sure you purchase the alarm that has the voltage cut-off setting that is appropriate for a 2s. I think 3.33v per cell is the lowest acceptable cut-off point. If individual cell voltage drops below 3.33v... damage could occur to the LiPo battery and it may not allow for recharging. note... they are usually cheap to purchase off ebay |
