Default Glitch in the matrix! Need some assistance..

Have a look at the video below, I am getting a strong stutter in the response under forward throttle only.. Is this what you all refer to as a 'glitch'?

Details:
-Castle Creations Sidewinder 3
-3S Lipo
-10A Castle BEC installed
-21T brushed Traxxas motor
-Stock Axial AX3 / AR3 transmitter / receiver
-SCX10, Tactic TSX45 servo

Sidewinder 3 was wired for Brushed Reversing motor and I used to Castle Link to set it up accordingly. Batteries in the transmitter are new and the transmitter was calibrated as well.

The motor runs fine up to full RPM in reverse, but stutters in forward. Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

Thanks

I can confirm you definitely have an issue

what happens when you reverse the motor wires
and the throttle reverse switch on the TX ?

^ just wondering if that power surge/glitch then occurs in reverse ?

not sure what the problem is...
but it almost seems like the fail safe might be intermittently
interrupting the power signal and causes it to turn on, then off.

Is your external BEC wired directly to the servo ?
or does the RX get supplied by the ESC's internal BEC ?
What voltage is either BEC's set at ?

Did you check any other motors, TX/RX, ESC
to see if it replicates the issue ?

OK, this is my brother's SCX10 I am seeking info for.. He is not a member here. I sent him the suggestions and will update when he gets back to me.

AFAIK, his ESC's internal BEC is disconnected. The Castle 10A BEC powers the RX. The servo gets power from the RX. BEC was set to 6V.

He had damaged his original AE5 ESC. He installed the new Castle Sidewinder 3 ESC together with a new Traxxas 21T motor during the rebuild. Will trouble shoot and get back.

double check your ESC's settings...

it comes default for brushless mtrs. I believe...
and needs be change to brushed if that's what's being run.

I'm sure you've read and followed the Driver's Ed manual
for set up... but double check it if you haven't.

http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...s_ed_guide.pdf

the default settings may require adjustment.

You have the CC Link ?

I had adjusted the settings on the ESC via Castle Link. Set it up for brushed reversing motor. (Default is brushless as you said).

Also wired the ESC for reversing brushed motor. Deans connectors throughout.

I also have a Sidewinder 3 in my Wraith and I get a very slight stutter nearing full throttle in reverse. Rarely I will get the stutter in forward, but I have experienced it there as well. It is no way near as severe as shown in my brother's video.. I am beginning to wonder if it could be the motor itself?? Maybe the brushes are not making good contact in one direction i.e. not sliding smoothly over the commutator in a particular direction.. I will have my brother break in the motor and see if it helps.

for sure your Titan 21T isn't the TRA3975R (reverse rotation) motor, right !?

yeah I know, dumb, but I had to ask Lol

Now my Wraith start to act up..

It's doing this under full throttle only and it only just started. Didn't do anything different other than testing my brother's Traxxas 21T on my ESC. This getting real miserable now

I'd narrow it down to the individual component.

1. Switch radios with your bro. Verify he doesn't have a faulty jumpy trigger switch on his radio.

2. Switch ESC's with your bro. Verify that his ESC has a smooth range of progression. That the ESC's mosfet's are not shorted causing a surge or gap in throttle.

3. Switch Crawler batteries. Verify that the battery doesn't have a amperage problem. If something rattled loose or has a poor connection. It can cause that current to arc and create a similar glitch in performance especially at high current draw. Start of motor or at top RPM.

4. Switch receiver. The receiver could be damaged causing erratic a connection.

5. Switch Servo and BEC, Both could be loading or not providing enough power back to the receiver to provide smooth throttle. Once the motor draws enough current it could cause not enough to be supplied to the receiver and for a instant to lose power.

6. Use the trucks somewhere new. Florescent lights, baby monitors, cordless phones all of it can create interference.

Good luck in finding the issue I know its incredibly frustrating.

Throttle glitch is what it's called I think, saw the term used while searching for solutions.

This is happening with two different RCs, both had charged batteries (SCX is on 3S, Wraith on 2S), both have Castle Sidewinder 2 ESCs, both running Castle 10A BECs.

I will report back when I find the problem. I have access to a friend's SCX10 who is also running a similar setup without any problems. I will use his to eliminate / replace parts until I find the cause.

Just tried a new Tactic servo, no help.
Unplugged the servo completely from receive, no help.
Rebind TX to RX, no help.
Tried a new Axial 20T motor, no help.
Checked the battery and motor connections, seem to be well connected, using Deans throughout.
Have a new TX / RX on the way, will try that when I take delivery.
