The Tamiya kit isn't that expensive in this case.

Axial makes the NVS system to add scale lighting. It runs $120 street.

Axial Racing - Axial NVS - Night Visions System

I am currently working on an Arduino based version of this. My goal is simplicity to allow anyone with some solder skills to do the project. I'm still waiting for parts but I have a working prototype.

Video....
Blinky - YouTube

Final cost should be no more than $20.

Pretty interesting, however, your link doesn't seem to work for me. Thanks, Ron

The Tamiya kit is so basic (4 led) that is an other subject, i found it really expensive for what it can do
it's a Simple LED controller like the axial AX24257

did 'nt see the back light,
did 'nt see the tail lights in the led description
did 'nt see the dimmed headlights
did 'nt see the warning headlights
did 'nt see the flash light to say hello to a mate, they work any time in the same time of other light (turn signals for example)
and i did'nt have the notice of all possibilities
i think that the "DV&QA V2" should be less than $100 with shipping to US

if i get one i will traduce

I'm yet to find a kit with "proper" control of the direction indicators.

What I want is to:
  • Activate left/right using a radio channel, independant of steering position.
  • Deactivate by
    • steering back to neutral after beeing past a threshold level (adjustable) in the indicated direction, or
    • on first activation signal in the opposite direction (while active).

if you look the vidιo you Activate left/right using the 3rd channel but you have to turn wheel to choose the side
Deactivate is what you want

Yes, I noticed. Having to turn the wheels totally counteract the idea of indicating where you plan to go as opposed to indicating where you're currently going.

i don't think you have to turn the wheels totally,

but i think you will have this problem on every kit for 3 channels radio, unless you programming Morse · · · — — — · · · it's a bit complicate

i don't know, maybe you may found that can of kit for the truck that need a radio with a lots of channel

That's a given! At least two channels for the lighting OR have the one channel used for direction indicators only.
