Default 2200 mAh lipo

So, I'm coming to the end of my SCX10 based China JK build, and as anyone who's followed a couple of these builds, knows there's very little space for much of anything under there, and because I'm limited to such little space, it seems the only battery I'll be able to use is a tiny 2200mAh 3S lipo. I realize there is also a 2S version around this size as well, which is even smaller if I'm not mistaken .

Now I'll be the first to admit, as much as I've tried to grasp the battery number lingo, I still don't always get it. I do understand the difference in between 2S and 3S, and the voltage associated with both. My primary concern with such a small battery is, how short will my run times be? Is it even worth using such a battery to begin with? This is simply a trail truck and will be used for some light crawling and trail runs.

I appreciate any insight any one can offer. I know this may seem like sort of a noob question, but I'm at a loss and a bit disgusted with this atm ;)
Has anyone used such a small battery similar to this in their rig before? Here's a link to the build. A'nudder China JK build

Some pics from farther away would help..

You could always look into running a couple smaller packs, like saddle packs.

Run time should be atleast half hour on a 2200mah 3s.. Depending on motor, gearing, throttle finger..

Thanks for the response. Sorry about the poor photos, I snapped those literally on my way out the door to work. I am currently looking into others that have made SCX10 side saddle mounts atm. That is a good idea!

I have ran 2200 2S packs for a few years and get 1-1/2 to 2 hours trail time from them. I have a couple 2200 3S packs that I've not ran as much, but at least the same run time. I use 3-4 batteries for an all-day GTG when I run them. The largest battery I own is a 2650 3S. Smaller batteries take-up less space and save a little weight. Ain't no shame in changing batteries every few hours while enjoying the rocks.

1-1/2 hours trail time is rather impressive. I'm looking to stay with a 2S so I may go that route. I do agree, will certainly save some weight, I just had no idea I could get close to that duration. I know my times will vary with terrain and throttle use, but I'm feeling more positive about this pack now. Thanks for the input.

I can get an hour out of a 1100 2S battery and 35 turn motor in a lightweight SCX.

I'm certainly happy with the run times associated with the smaller packs. I'll be running a 35T HH in a fairly lighter rig; maybe about 7lbs I'm thinking. Not to mention they are fairly cheap from what it looks like. May get a few 2S and see what I get
Thanks for the advice guys!

HK USA West has 'em for a mere $6 right now, BTW; that's a steal at 40% off the already cheap price. I ordered 3 more from the link in my sig below.

I was getting about 45 min to an hour with my 2200's. But I had a 55T that was at full throttle a lot too.

I have a handful of Turnigy 2200 40C 2s softcases that I run in my go-slow fleet. I like the reduced weight over my 4000mah hardcase packs for my go-fast fleet.

Runtimes range from 1/2 hour in a 17.5 Brushless powered Twin Hammers snow bashing at mostly WOT to 1 1/2 hours in a 27 turn powered SCX trail riding and crawling.

The only thing to consider for some mega powered brushless motors is if the smaller capacity batteries are able to keep up the the amperage spikes and overall increased draw. For anything that's 13.5 brushless or less powerful I wouldn't be terribly concerned about my 40C 2200mah packs keeping up. I would not run them in my Wraith with something like a Pro4 though.

I'm rather interested to use this just to see what it's like. Turns out it looks like I'll be able to tightly fit a 3300 mAh
Along the rear frame rails. I truly appreciate all the information it certainly helped!

It very well may be worth it for the savings in weight. My trail runs usually don't last for more than a couple hours tops.

Higher is always better but usually more expensive. For high turn 35+ brushed motors, 20c should be sufficient though.

10lb is a very heavy rig. My scx10 honcho 55t runs 90 minutes on 2200 3s while climbing.
