LiPo suggestions - Wraith Spawn RTR for bashing

Need to pickup a battery or 2 for my en route Spawn RTR. Mainly gonna bash around the yard. I'm seeing lots of good things about some of the cheaper Turnigy batteries at HK - not sure what specs I should focus on for my application though...

Basically, I want something reasonably inexpensive that will spec out more on the speed side without completely burning up my stock electronics.

probably not - at least not in the near term. i want to keep things water-resistant, and i understand brushed is the most reliable way to go there.

definitely see a different brushed motor and/or esc in my future at some point though. but for now, just looking for a reasonably priced lipo that will give me ok run-times with as much speed as the stock drivetrain can handle.

Run 2s battery. You will definitely be buying new electronics if you run 3s batteries. Im running a 2s 7400mah 65c and i run all day on it. I had a 3s in it and in 5min mu motor burned up

I run a Hobby People 2200mah 20c 3s for bashing and an Onyx 2s 5000mah 25c for trails/crawling. Use your head on the 3s and you will be OK.

I couldn't find it for ten but thats what I payed. Also the Spawn comes with a crappy Tamiya plug on the esc, I suggest switching this out to a deans or traxxas type plug and order your batteries with whatever plug you switched to. (my battery says T-Conn because it had a Deans plug on it)

I usually run 2s 5000mah. 3s is fun, but I don't have my wraith ready for 3s

From my past experience with a wraith the 5000mah seem to work pretty good and have good run times. Running this rig with the battery moved to the front under the hood, using an inexpensive hobbywing esc, brushless motor, and 3s was the most fun. The brushed motors never really lasted, the're a pain in the ass to change and really limited your driving to where you have to monitor the motor all the time. Most of the time I just drove it till the smoke came out, which may have been a few times in a weekend.

I run the Onyx 7.4V 5000mah in mine. Fits snug in the front without any mods and last long enough.

no worries - at $10 per, it was still a great price. i picked up 2, as well as some xt60 connectors and a charge cable - cost me ~$35 shipped.

i'm guessing i should have a spare motor handy running these 3s on stock?

already planning to order some vanquish hubs and axial hexes too.

Nice. I always like to have a spare handy so the fun never ends.

I'm on my phone right now but, check out Harleys thread in the wraith section. Holmes stuff is impressive, I am thinking it may be my next upgrade. Axial cans are good for throwing at mud piles and seeing if they blow up, or snow work.

I've wanted to try the rebuildable 540 from HK for $7 but have yet to buy it; maybe snag one of those if you're ordering from the Intl warehouse.
