Default Size issues with new vs old venoms 2s 35c 5200mah

So when I purchased my first set of batteries (2S 35C 5200mah) they were as advertised and only 20mm thick (17mm as measured)

I decided to get another set and ordered a set off amazon but they showed up Bigger!!! Thicker than the ones I currently have. Same name plate but the serial numbers were much lower (390,000 vs 790,000) -

Are they selling new old stock???

Or did they just find a cheaper or more efficient way to build them

And how do these old batteries perform compared to the new style.

I like the newer style ones at least they seem to perform ok

Am I worrying over nothing, they are heavier which will affect performance some but how much and would you even notice it?

Anybody have any experience with this or these batteries
I'm really considering returning them for a refund and purchasing from tower again but tired of waiting.

Thanks

First, I wouldn't be concerned with a size difference on a battery unless it doesn't fit. Second, I would contact Atomik RC and talk to them directly about the issue. They have SUPER customer service and will make sure you are happy.

What I have seen over the years is a company or manufacturer can and do change physical characteristic of batteries depending on available materials, need, process improvement and requirements. It is entirely possible that you have now or had then miss tagged batteries. But, only the manufacturer or dealer can validate that for you.

If they both fit where you are using them and they both perform, I wouldn't be the least bit concerned about using them or their performance until you find a noticable difference. Again, I urge you to call Atomik RC direct and talk with them. I am an Atomik customer for life - love their batteries but most importantly, I love their customer support!
