Default Cooked a Novak... what next?

I've managed to cook my Rockstar 35t motor so im looking for something to replace it with now.

I still have the Eiger Pro ESC which is fine so looking for suggestions for a motor to go with it. Will be run on 2S lipo and im thinking something around 35t as i liked the mix of torque and wheel speed from the 87\22t 48p gearing im running.

Was thinking maybe Holmes or Tekin but not sure which would be best... this is for a SCX10 btw...

Thanks in advance, Nige

Holmes would be my recommendation, get it waterproof too for extra safety.

I'm guessing you cooked your motor from too much gearing, back the pinion down several teeth. I run a pretty strong brushless motor in my truck and I'm only at 13/56 using 32P gears (about 20/87 in 48P). If you dial the gearing back, you can change to a 27-30T motor on 2S or stick with a 35T and run 3S to get your wheelspeed back. The same 35T motor on 3S with 87/16 gearing would have a little more top end speed as your current setup, better low speed control, and run cooler. I would personally take the 3S route because a wise man once said "gear down, volt up."

As for motors, I picked up a Holmes Torquemaster Expert for my latest build. It is a very good motor that doesn't break the bank.

As svt923 said, it's very likely that it was your 4:1 gearing that killed your motor. Bring it to 5:1 and go 3s. Maybe even jump to 45T.

He probably meant the esc...not the motor

And I agree about the previous posts on your gearing....drop your pinion down to a 17 or so....or you'll burn up your next motor too. Keep checking your temps when you first try it....
