Default Axial 27t/rc4wd 35t/YR 35t

Hey guys, I am looking into these motors to put into my new G6 kit.

LOOKING FOR FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE

My LHS guys all run the axial motors and recommend them to basically anyone.

The RC4WD motor is a little nicer on my wallet but i cant seem to find much feedback on them, if they burn up its only a 10 dollar fix.

YR I know absolutely nothing about. Motor or brand. It's the most pricey of the group and I have only had 1 guy tell me he likes them.

Any and all feedback is accepted.
Thanks

i ran an axial motor in far more punishing conditions than rock crawling and i never even came close to a thought of crapping out and i run my r/c's hard

I would get a Holmes hobbies 27t torquemaster sport....34 bucks if you put your own motor wires on....much more torque and power than the stock axial 27t and its rebuildable...

No experience with yeah racing....just rc4wd and axial

That's what a lot of other people are saying. The axials take one hell of a beating before anything goes wrong.

Depends on what the axial is in....if its a wraith at the stock gear ratio....it wont last long...i know...i burnt up a lot of them when I first got my wraith....changed the gear ratio to around 5.5-6.2 and they lasted longer. That being said, when I would get in heavy crawling situations they failed quickly...

I have seen many fain in wraiths, due to the fact that they don't hold up well to the higher stress of the wraith (what I hear anyway)

any e motor is only reliable when geared properly.

over gearing... thus causing excessive heat
will reduce any motor's consumable life expectancy.

I run the stk Axial closed endbell motors 27T - 55T
I like them... and abuse them without worry.
purdy dang reliable IME.

Only draw back... is the motor can is a little long
and can contact the nut that secures the upper link to the frame.
Especially if using a lower tooth count pinion.
Easy fix is to reverse the bolt and nut mounting...
Or use a low profile nut with a more precise bolt length.

High end, hand wound, open end bell, rebuildable motors are nice...
but not really necessary in a crawler IMO.
And unless you have the appropriate tools for rebuilding...
The service cost/mailing hassle for doing that... kinda bites IMO.

The more budget minded machine wound, OEB, motors allow
for rebuilding and maintenance.
Cost less then hand wound motors and work good enough for most.
Quality/Reliability is found in selecting a reputable mfgr/distributor.

I just purchased an Integy 35T machine wound wonder...
If it holds up as well as the closed endbell Axial motors...
I'll be happy with it.
If it don't... well... I got what I paid for !? Lol

Like Integy... the RC4WD motors can be a hit or miss deal.

x2 I prefer the 45T Integy lathe motor on 3s. Easy to add a tooth or two on pinion with higher turn motor and not shorten motor life.
