I need a stump puller..... So I'm building a Unimog out of a RTR Warith. Stock 27t stock gearing with the AE-2 ESC. Only running a 2 cell. Not looking for a hotrod setup, strictly crawler/hualer for my MRC crawler. She will weight in at about 10lbs when complete. Plan is to crawl with the MRC on the back. I dont need to burn this thing up. Some people have told me i will need dual motors..... Really? Re: I need a stump puller..... Dual motors are for people that have no clue what is going on. Gonna use the AE-2 ESC on 2S? |
Re: I need a stump puller..... Yep. I actually run the 6 cell stick packs. I used to run 3s lipo's, I may switch when its time to hide a battery in smaller places. |
Re: I need a stump puller..... I really like unimog builds, I should build one I think it would be a blast. Is that a Scx10 chassis on a wraith skid? Do you have a build thread? I would go with 3s on the ae2 esc with a bec. I would think something like a Holmes crawlmaster 16t would be good. |
Re: I need a stump puller..... My c3 rig weighs 10 lbs... one 30t brood on 3s... moves fine, moves pretty fast and crawls. |

So should i just gear down the 27t until i burn it up or am not happy? I have a bec installed. |
Re: I need a stump puller..... A 27t with the lowest gearing possible and about 12 degrees of timing would be a good choice for brushed with some grunt. Otherwise I would suggest brushless if you are wanting a long term reliable solution for a hauling rig. |

I have a HH Torque Master 35t sitting here that was just rebuilt by RC Country Hobbies, im not sure how to break it in though. Would this be a good motor for now? Now if i went brushless what would you suggest? I would shoot for overkill. |
Re: I need a stump puller..... A 35t would also work well. You can't adjust timing on a sealed can motor (easily at least), so for those just run em until they die. If RC Country didn't break in your motor, 3 to 5 minutes at partial throttle with no load would be enough. |
Re: I need a stump puller..... I have a scx10 running a traxxas evx2 ESC duel 550 12t Traxxas motors vanquish trans with stock slipper and top gear other two gears are Robertson racing junfac driveshafts vanquish scx10 ar60 f/r axles with stock rear axle shafts I'm running rc4wd 2.2 mud basher's on vanquish 2.2 beadlocks my truck rips shit up literally it is overkill and I love it there is no way I would say duel motors is not worth doing it just costs alot of $$$$ I spent 2k building mine and I can crawl or hill climb run through water mud I've even ran it in some salt water at the beach crawling the rocks around the tide pools it tore up the bearing's but I was due to change them anyways oh yeah and its fast and pulled a 22lb bar of sleek 40 ft on pavement into gravel were it went another 12ft till it lost traction in loose gravel so runs slow runs fast has pull power how is this not worth doing??? |
Re: I need a stump puller..... That was steel not sleek damn fat fingers |
Re: I need a stump puller..... Simply put, you can get the same power from a single nicer motor. Lighter weight, lower cg, higher system efficiency, and less complexity are the main advantages. With electric motors, there is rarely a case where two are better than one larger motor. |
