Give it a shot, I'd like to know.. I was goin to try 7.2v but not right now, it's to new to try and burn it up just yet for me.

That 959 seems decent, speed is kinda weak though, I didn't know they had any higher oz servo's. Is that the highest torque they make?

So far the MG959 is the strongest Tower Pro I've seen, but you're right speed is a little slower than the MG968.

Same to me, its too new but im curious. At 6.7v the torque is tremendous, speed is just fast for crawlers.

Cant find that new style tower pro 959 online, only stuff I can find is the older full alloy case. Wonder if a new version is still in the works of being made and sent out to dealers.

I haven't found one anywhere other than Tower Pro's on-line store, but US shipping on just one MG959 is the same price ($25) as the servo. There may not be too many of them in circulation right now.

Just an update, tried a M2.6 from my hitec in the 'stripped' 968 and it actually worked. Need to put some abuse on it and see if it holds.

Anymore feedback on this servo? I ordered one from Hobbyking, if they aren't holding up in the crawlers I can use it as a sail servo in my Victoria.

I'm confused on the screw needed for the 968? I'm gonna order a 24 tooth axial horn from tower and can't seem to figure out what screw to order with it?

These:
TowerHobbies.com | HPI Racing Cap Head Screw M2.6x8 (12)

or these:
TowerHobbies.com | Axial Cap Head 2.6x8mm Black (10)

I use the HPI ones in my 968 and Hitecs with no problems.

Depends, its supposed to be M2.5 but if the threads are messed up then M2.6 works.

Got my 968 from Hobby king, set at 6.0 on castle link and paired it with 3s and it performed great. I used the HPI 2.6x8 screw and it mounted up great, seems like a great servo.

Mine arrived in about 2 weeks. I haven't hooked it up yet, but I have high hopes that it will work well in my Yeti.

It can run up to 6.6v if you want.

I had one on my rig when i bought it.. Replaced it with a hitec waterproof high power unit lasted less than one run, stripped the gears, then tried savox 2 of them, both stripped the gears.. put back on the original and its been fine for 3 years.. id say they are good.

I recently picked up 3 more of them in an auction, name brands done mean much to me!

I`ve ordered one of these from Hobbyking for future use, maybe for my unlimited class foff-rig..

Am I the only one noticing that this looks alarmingly similar to Hitec 7955..?

Splines, specs(all but speed..), casing and even included hardware is identical.

Although internals are not quite hitec, electronics look different. (though I don`t have 7955 myself, but have 2x7950 and 2x7954..)

And there was little binding on the MG968, when I opened it up, the limiter pin on final gear was scrubbin on the upper case. Not a big deal, little tap on it and it was fixed..

so i have been scouring the web off and on all day. I am getting ready to bite and buy...

my ax10 proline tuber has a stock servo up front and a TowerPro MG946R out back. the MG946R is way faster and fairly quiet. My rc's have been sitting for over 2years and I am wanting to get things going.
I was going to buy a 2nd one to match the back until I saw this thread.

so my question...

on a 4ws ax10 proline tuber non comp im guessing speed doesnt really matter but these seem fast...
would I be better off with the TowerPro MG946R to pair with the other?

i do have a camaro foff i have had in the works for ever too. I need a steering servo for that one too so since that is more speed...

would you recommend this one (MG96 or TowerPro MG946R for that car?

I feel my TowerPro MG946R is super quiet and ill post up a pic later...

but hankerin to order so if i get a reply in 10 minutes before I leave work ill order.. hah

Without exaggerating, the 968 is better than the 946 as a servo in every single way.
