Tower Pro MG968 Servo

I came across this servo over in the "New Products and Great Deals" section of the forum and was just curious if anyone has tried it out yet? Says it is 333 oz. and is just under $50 at LockedUp RC. Thinking of getting one for a LNC.

if its the same servo as what i have looked at before they were given bad reviews for them being noisy. I can't remember the exact model that those reviews were for though. You should be able to search the model on google and find out more about it from people that have purchased it before.

Thanks for your response. I've tried a google search, but can't find anything specific to this model servo. I can find reviews on Amazon for other Tower Pro servos, and they actually have pretty good reviews...just nothing on this particular one unfortunately. I'm guessing because it's so new.

Those may have been the old 946r servos.
I used to run those on my comp shafty back when Wheely Kings were still competitive.

All of the electronics were updated by Tower Pro for 2015. The 2015 versions are MUCH better servos and I believe we are the only ones carrying them so far.

Have you sold many of them yet? Have you heard any reviews or feedback on them yet?

Thanks for the info.

Had one of these delivered Tuesday, it's installed on the front of the Wraith but I haven't had a chance to drive with it yet. I'm waiting on a 24t aluminum servo horn to get here and I need to finish the 4WS conversion.

This servo is no more noisy than any other servo, makes less noise than my Tactic TSX55 and about the same as my Futaba S3305. It's also noticeably quicker than the TSX55 and Futaba S3305. It has a full metal gear set and brass bushings in the top plate to help support the gear shafts.

Re: Tower Pro MG968 Servo

Ive ran the servo twice now and its super quiet, doesn't make any noise at all, unlike my hitec 7950 always does trying to hold center. Its just as quick as my hitec as well. Cant go wrong with it being 34 bucks on locked up, but they need to get more in.

It can run at 6.6v too, so it will get more oz and speed.

They're 24t spines and M2.5 thread for the screw.

I believe it's the same servo, I'll let you know when they get here. I ordered a pair from the same seller Thursday (07/30/15). I can't say how it compares the MG958, I've never used the MG958. From looking at the specs, the MG968 is a little stronger and slightly faster, but it may not be enough difference to notice.

Re: Tower Pro MG968 Servo

Wow, that same ebay seller sells 8 for 160 so thats 20 bucks a pop. Could sell some to your friends for more money and get yours for even cheaper or free depending how many and how much you sell them for.

Let me know when you receive them and confirm there the right 968 servo. Also, how long they take to get to you. Thanks.

I'll let you know. They've already processed through the Hong Kong sort facility so they shouldn't take too long to get here. I've also got an M3 plug/bottom tap and 2.5mm drill bit coming, decided to go ahead and tap the MG968 output to M3x0.5 thread.

Re: Tower Pro MG968 Servo

For sure, locked up offered to tap mine but ill most likely do it my self. Picked up M3x0.5 as well.

Re: Tower Pro MG968 Servo

If somebody can do a comparison between the 958 and the 968 it will be very helpful.
I have the 958 and they are superb!
Very strong (feels more than they rated for) fast and super quiet, so quiet that I almost accidentally burned one yesterday (was fully locked for several minutes due to Tx programming failure and I couldn't here anything).
For 12$ it's a bargain!
The 968 looks exactly the same and I got the feeling that the only difference is the sticker and the price..
Can't believe that they can improve this servo nor they need to.

The 968 has significantly more torque while having faster response time.

958:
Torque:
4.8 volts = 166 oz/in (12 kg/cm)
6.0 volts = 194 oz/in (14 kg/cm)

Speed:
4.8 volts: 0.19 sec / 60 degree
6.0 volts: 0.17 sec / 60 degree

968:
4.8 volts = 250 oz/in (18 kg/cm)
6.0 volts = 333 oz/in (24 kg/cm)

Speed:
4.8 volts: 0.17 sec / 60 degree
6.0 volts: 0.14 sec / 60 degree

Where did you got those numbers from?

TowerPro MG968 Servo Specifications and Reviews
The difference is 4kg @6v, if the numbers are true..
But the price is more than double.
