| One run and Dead
So I've been tooling around my living room for a few days with my (new to me) SCX10, and over the weekend I took it to the locak sand pit for some real trials. Made it through a whole battery no problem, switched to a second battery and I had motor issues. After connecting the second battery I flipped the switch on the BEC to "on" (I think thats what it is, and what you're supposed to do) and turned on the controller. The front wheels centered like usual, and the little LED on the ESC lights up and flashes when I touch the throttle, but the motor doesn't go. Nothing, nada, no movement. Not sure where to start trouble shooting, this is all new to me. |

You're supposed to turn the transmitter on first. Some esc's have lockouts that prevent them from running if they don't have a signal. Always turn the transmitter on first, and off last. |

Also, sand is incredibly hard on brushed motors. It'll grind the brushes and comm down in a hurry and kill the motor.

^^ What he said. Also, next time you turn everything on (in the correct order ;) ) if the motor still isn't moving try and give it a little push if it goes then it time for brushed and maybe a comm cut.

Try wiggling your motor brushes a little. If I'm running around sand, I wrap my motor with vet wrap. |

okay, so... transmitter -> battery -> ESC switch and then the reverse when shutting down for the day? And good call on the vet wrap, Hadn't considered sand in the brushes. I'll disassemble the motor tonight and see what (if anything) is wrong inside it. On another note, anyone know anything about my "torquemaster" esc? who makes it? is it any good? And the Turnigy UBEC, I don't hear much good associated with that brand, and suggestions on respectable replacements? |

Yes on the power on/power off procedure. Holmes Hobbies makes the Torquemaster. Turnigy is ok. |

I didn't know Holmes esc's came with power switches. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk |
