This is a very interesting new battery technology that is from one of the inventors of the lithium ion battery, John B. Goodenough. He won the Nobel in chemistry in 2019 at 97 years of age. He was also heavily involved in the invention of RAM so without his work I probably wouldn't be typing this on a mobile phone. https://youtu.be/g0nA8CfxBqA Imagine a 2200mah battery smaller than an 800mah lipo available today or a transmitter battery that lasts up to 5 times as long as today's. Hope I'm still around to see it. Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk Last edited by bbrigg; 11-21-2019 at 02:14 AM. |

Yup, I saw this the other day. I think for our niche of battery use, it will mean lighter packs, and of course, a lot more run time. But really, given what we have now, not sure how much impact it will have. Fast RCs, especially larger ones like monsters and 1/5, this technology will have a giant impact. |

I would prefer a better supercapaciter myself. Thy charge almost instantly. Can discharge instantly, meaning insanely high amp ratings. They can store power on a shelf longer while being more durable and less prone to fire. Power density is less biy if it charges in 5 seconds im totaly cool with that. 0 Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

That’s great. Love new tech. I want better batteries for everything. I don’t think we will ever see it in the market...the oil companies will buy it out and it will disappear

Any improvements in battery life is welcome. I'd love to have phones and laptops that last forever on a charge.

I am normally dubious of battery tech claims. There has been a lot of vaporware. Considering the inventor involved, this will likely yield an end product. Sodium glass batteries looks promising! The manufacturing process seems to be very similar to microchip lithography, which will lend to easy, fast, and cheap adoption. Just think how low cost electronics have become. This will bring the battery in line with manufacturing advances, and reduce raw input costs as well. |

John B. Goodenough is also working with Elon Musk so there is some money behind this project. If electric cars are the first to benefit I'd imagine that current output will be reasonably good. Wonder how long before the Chinese copy it? Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk |

I'm skeptical of new battery technology because of so many failed projects and empty promises over the years. With electric vehicles being forced down our throats battery technology must improve substantially and RCs should eventually benefit. | |
