DX4C and the Servo causing loss of connection.
 

So I have a DX4C. I have 3 servos now that seem to be causing this problem I am having. When the Servo is plugged in and used, ie turn the wheels, the DX4C looses connection with the receiver and has to reconnect. I do have a Castle BEC plugged. Once I unplugged the servo everything works.

The first servo (Savox SC-0251) took about a month before it failed, and I RMA'ed it. The second one I upgraded my servo (Savox SW1210SG) and it failed about a month later, so I RMA'ed that. The 3rd one is the replacement servo and it failed out of the box.

At this point I am wondering if this is a symptom of the problem and not the cause. I am having problems find people having the same issue. My hobby store hasn't not heard of this problem before. Or maybe I just have really bad luck with servos

using a hi torque and sometimes power hungry servo being powered from the rx is often a cause of problems due to how much current you could be pulling, the receivers are not really good for that, even if they are both being fed power from the bec.

people do generally have success with setting it up like that but bec to servo direct is often better.

just checking but if you are powering the rx from bec and have an esc plugged in you have removed the esc red wire?

is the bec set for the correct voltage for the servo?
meter the bec output and see if you are getting the correct voltage, sometimes the cc becs have been known to fail

if you still have a usable servo try wiring bec direct to servo for power and leave esc to power rx.

Sounds like there could be something wrong in the wiring or your servos are binding somewhere during their steering cycles.

My brother has an avc receiver srs4210 that killed 3 servos after he changed it he has not had a problem again

my yeti have a savox servo, with bec and srs4210 and runs great since the first day.

I'm not saying all of them are bad I have some that work good also just giving an idea :roll:

The SRS4210 requires digital servos unless you disable AVC. Otherwise, it will burn up a servo pretty quickly while running.

To the original problem, I would try directly powering the servo with the BEC and going around the receiver. Remember to run the ground back to both the BEC (as normal) and the receiver.

So I tested the BEC, it is doing 5.5 volts, brought it into a hobby store to move it to 6 volts. Still no go.

The SRS4210 also has this awesome thing AVC which can not be turned off for the steering servo. This wasn't causing the problem, but after talking to them, I think when this is all fixed I am going to an SR410. AVC not really the best thing for rock crawlers.

We traced it down the the ESC. At this point I am working on RMA'ing it. Hope to have it up and running with a new ESC here in a week or so.

I will update this thread with what I find. Who knows, could help the person with the same problem.

So I got back my RMA'ed ESC and replaced my SRS4210 with a SR410. Now everything is working again. Also noticed with the SR410 the steering is much more responsive, which is awesome!
