Mine did something similar to your second one, turns out there was a bit of moisture in the case. Letting it dry and then filling the board side of the case with silicon grease fixed it and it's been going strong since.

Is silicon grease the same as Dielectric grease?

Got a 470 to try. I hope it's quieter than Savox.

When placing the order it asked for my T-shirt size so I thought I might get one. I did ask for swag in the comments because I've seen that mentioned on this site they you get coozeys and stuff. All I got was this little package which looks to be a decal and mint.

Like!
And you will. The shirts are primarily for pilots, he does do one driver .
I must admit I bought the second for the coolie......... and I needed a servo .

I wasn't expecting free swag...just hoping. It doesn't affect my openness to trying this servo.

Savox never gave me free stuff!

Dlux has given key chains, it hangs next to the mini Savox servo keychain I got from my lhs.

I finally killed a 3 year old 420 due to repeated water intrusion. After the first few dunkings cleaning the potentiometer would fix it. Now it just jitters no matter what. I certainly can't complain as it has lasted longer than any other servo I've ever run. Time to order another 470...

I thought all Promodeler servos were sealed for water?

I don't run waterproof servos and I've still only killed one servo from water over the years.

They are ORinged , incredibly precise case. The pot has the o ring around the shaft, you have to slather grease to stop water from entering.
I put my first 420 in my VS4, it just keeps on going quiet and smooooooth.

Despite promodelers claims, I would consider them, from first hand experience, highly water resistant. It slowly finds it's way in where the wires exit the case. A strategically placed dab of RTV around the wires helps a ton. The servo that died literally would have dozens of hours of submerged usage between bouts of water intrusion. Brief submersion, snow and mud, and plenty of splashing around don't seem to harm it any. But spending lots of quality time submerged finds the limits of "waterproof".

I have a couple Promodeler 611's that use a different method of sealing the wire exits, one of which is going into a submarine truck. I'm interested to see how it holds up.

Anyone tried one yet: ProModeler - 630oz-in, Std, BLS #DS630BLHV ?

Feel like it might be the replacement servo for a 2.2 rig.

Hey guys, I try to not let the words waterproof cross my lips. Water resistant? Oh yes, definitely we use that term. And if you look around at how we build our servo versus the competition, we use 13 o-rings, while they may use 3. Yet despite the effort, water still finds a way in (usually via the pigtail where the lead exits the case). I have an article on our site about what you can do if you want to play submarine with our DS470 servo: Waterproof vs. Water-resistant

Regarding the DS630, which uses a different method of dealing with the leads where they exit the case, we expect better results. But I still won't claim waterproof. But it's better than anything the competition is up to.
