Tekin hd brushed motor rebuild ?

Hello all!
I've got a 35t hd Tekin brushed motor. It would sporadically work, so I changed brushes in it. It still will not work, and no sound from the esc. I tried a diff motor, and the fxr esc works fine. What could it be?
Thanks!

did you check the commutator?

Does it work if you give it a push/nudge/kick?

I'll be honest, I don't know how to check the commutator. And eepee- I haven't really tried it. Since the new brushes I tried it out of the rig.

This is the first time I've had to rebuild a motor in the ten years of rc- I know I sound like a complete noob

Make sure the brushes move freely in the brush hoods. Pull on the brush wires a little and the brushes should snap back. Or, take it all apart and look at the commutator. Could be done.

Pictures are good.

The brushes don't move freely at all. Gonna order some new brushes and springs, and google how to check the commutator. Thanks

You might have bent a brush hood. Needlenose pliers work. Little bitty bend and check. Repeat til the brush moves freely.

Does it matter if the brushes stick out a bit? I took some brushes off an integy motor I have to try. Kept the same springs.

Re: Tekin hd brushed motor rebuild ?

That's kind of unusual in my experience. All 2000 new, various brushes I have are the same length and absolutely fit entirely in the hood.

Yeah mine always go fully in. I'm guessing the brushes aren't even touching the comm if they are sticking out which would explain why you are getting no noise or anything.

Re: Tekin hd brushed motor rebuild ?

I've seen worse but if that was mine I'd be cutting the comm for sure. But I still don't understand why the new brushes were sticking out of the hood.

Re: Tekin hd brushed motor rebuild ?

I completely miss worded that. The new ones (integy) stuck out further than the Tekin ones. Are brushes pretty universal? I don't understand why it's not working is all- no sound or anything

Re: Tekin hd brushed motor rebuild ?

There is a few different type of brushes I believe tekin uses stand up brushes like holmes motors. Got a pic of the brushes?

My comm looked like that when I had to send it back to holmes. He said he forgot to fully cut the comm before he sent it to me originally. (Black friday deal last year)
