| Looking to replace my Traxxas Titan 12t 550 with a 540 motor
I have 2 traxxas Stampede 4x4s for my son and I and I want to get rid of the shotty 12t 550s. I want to replace them with a rebuildable 540 but I'm lost in the conversion. Can anyone point me to a comparable turn 540 motor? Thanks |

12t titan is a slow motor Any open ended bell 540 would smoke that 550. If your using the xl5 I think its only rated for a 15t 540. I havent done brushed in years but google 12-15t brushed motor and pick one thats to your liking. You can spend a little or a lot. Just stick with a brand name. I wish I could give you a recomendation. I dont think you can go wrong. Just make sure it can handle what ever voltage you are running Maybe its time to invest in a Brushless system? |

I have plenty of brushless systems sitting on my shelf. I want to keep these trucks brushed. I'll keep looking around. My thoughts were around 19 or 20t with zero timing. Hhmmmm... |

I don't think a lot of people 'upgrade' brushed systems in fast stuff anymore. I would go to traxxas or ultimaterc forums and search. If you want speed just run 3s, lots of people do it. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk |

Just looking for a more reliable motor without losing performance. (Torque and speed). The last motor I used a few years back was a speed gem 27t and it was ok but not the greatest. |

What type of reliability problems are you having? If motors are not lasting long enough for your liking, you need to look at your set up and driving habits. You could buy the best motor but it wont last if its abused. Every new motor set up I do I always check the gearing by running it as hard as I can and keep checking the temps along the way to make sure I dont exceed 130 degrees. I shoot for 115-120. If I run too hot I need to lower the gearing. If you get your motor wet or muddy they should be rinsed clean and sprayed with motor spray or WD40 to keep corrosion from setting in |

They traxxas 12t titan is a throwaway motor and lacks performance in every category. I'm just looking for a rebuildable 540 that will work in the stampede 4x4 that I can better maintain and will have the same speed and torque or more. I'm good with Vintage brushed motors in light weight buggies but I don't know how to convert 550 to 540 sizes. |
