Default Mamba Micro X and HH Puller Pro Stubby 2200

I have to admit, I never would have tried this combo on my own. JRH posted about testing this combo as good, and being as the MMx was on sale for a while, I went for it.

And oh mamma, what a sweet sweet combo. It's in a GCM Skeleton JK ChinaSpecial and geared 88/20 on 3S it's an absolute hoot. Tiny, sensored, waterproof...what's not to like?

Also, the Aux wire I have set to Drag Brake and that is really, really cool to be able to adjust on the fly while out wheelin. Would highly reccommend this combo for any scx'ish-weight scaler/crawler.

Glad you like it too! Its what I wheel in the Vaterra, and just getting ready to install the same in the Bastard JR. Never went brushless in that rig because I didn't have room for a larger ESC.

Is that esc just as capable for brushed (until I can get a puller pro)?

After reading the main post, I also decided on a MMX.
It will be going with my HH 2200kv S, as well..
Working on the soldering now!

Can't wait to run it thru the paces!

Honestly haven't weighed it, but I would guess about 8 pounds.

[shameless plug]And remember that any mamba X product purchased at Holmes Hobbies comes with a free sensor wire so you don't have to buy the extra $8 adapter. [/shameless plug] The Castle adapter wire requires a regular sensor wire too. The wires I made adapt straight from the mmx into the motor plug so there isn't another plug in the middle to fail.

2016 seems like a good year to work on improving the motor side sensor plug too. I just need to figure out how to polarize or pin it so it wouldn't be damaged from reverse plug in.

Bought mine from HH and paired it with a crawlmaster expert in my deadbolt. Super smooth operation with adjustable drag brake. Two thumbs up. Wish I could use the adjustable drag brake on my shafty!

Would the stubby 3500kv be too much for the Micro X? On 3s in a 6 pound SCX..

That sensor wire you make is really clever - nice touch!

I've been running a 3300 stubby on the microX for harsh testing reasons, and it runs warmer but at worst 50F temp increase over ambient. The 3500 wouldn't run warmer if you geared it down enough. But the combo is rather unbalanced, your big motor will have the ability to smoke the tiny ESC. Just don't do hill climbs or drag racing or towing and it would probably be fine. At your own risk that wouldn't be too risky if you set things up carefully and watch the heat.

Wouldn't have thought of this combo either. Got both items in the cart. Needing a lightweight, small setup for my new moonbuggy project cralwer.

John, Could you recommend one or two brushless combos for my new Ascender K-5 kit. Most of my driving will be crawling, and a little bit of trail riding. Also if I add in a BEC can you set everything up for plug n play. I am new to crawling, but I know that you get what you pay for. That is why I am here seeking your advice.

This exact combo that the thread is about. The motor was developed for the K-5 (faster KVs weren't cutting it) , and the ESC is sized perfectly for it too! We do set up ready to plug in combos for customers, you can find all the options on our site and contact us if you need more help.

Very interested in this setup, intrigued to say the least. I'm finishing up a SCX10 based rig with Toyzuki's full chassis, motor mount and Transmission. I'm thinking this would be the perfect setup? I'm looking at a total weight of around 8lbs. (Mamba Micro X and HH Puller Pro Stubby 2200) What do you think John?

I see no problems with it as long as the toyzuki setup gives you full reduction.
