| Gelande Electronics Question/Suggestion
Hello, After gaining confidence working/playing with my SCX10’s RTR, I have decided to get the Gelande 2 Truck Kit w/Cruiser Body as my first kit. This will be 90% shelf queen and crawling in the house as far as usage goes. When I do take it outside, it will be very mild, dry surface only. Mostly flat river rocks. My question is, since this is my first kit, and since it will not be used for any serious, or semi-serious crawling, would the following electronics be OK? Twister High Torque Metal Gear Servo Outcry Crawler Speed Controller ESC with TurboBEC XR3 3-Channel 2.4 Ghz Transmitter/Receiver In my searching I have found the complaints against the Outcry ESC to be a few years old, so I am curious if they are any better since then or is it that most people do not use them. Thank you. |

According to this poll, it's not a favorite: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/electronics/poll2372.htm Maybe choose one that is? Specs and prices here: Favorite Brushed ESC Last edited by StomperCrawler; 03-28-2016 at 07:48 PM. |

I had the same dilemma with my G2 Cruiser build - I wanted it really nice, shelf queen style, but it's just so much fun to drive that I do take it out a good bit for some easy wheeling.... which makes me glad I didnt skimp on the electronis. I'm using a BRXL, 20T Crawlmaster, and savox 1210 SG, and it's about perfect speed and smoothness wise. Last edited by EeePee; 03-29-2016 at 04:20 AM. Reason: Enormous picture removed |

Thanks for the reply’s. Both posts made me think. I am not sure what I will be using, but I have decided to get higher end electronics for this build as I agree, I will probably be doing a lot more “outside” crawling, and besides, this rig deserves better electronics. lol |

I have a very similar setup to Angus_Beef in one of my D90s (BRXL and Crawlmaster 16T). It's a great power combination - super smooth and plenty of torque. Even if you're not planning to get wet, the WP BRXL is a good idea just in case. The Savox 1210 is an excellent servo. I have them in multiple rigs and have never had a problem. As far as radios are concerned, I have an XR4 (similar to the XR3 but with 4 channels) that came with my D110 RTR, and I was pleasantly surprised by it for a basic radio. If you're looking for more features and flexibility, I'm partial to the hacked FlySky GT3C. Lots of programming options and very reasonably priced. I get mine from Helios RC.

Hi Edan, Facing the same dilemma, I was wondering what you ended up picking for your Gelande and how well your electronics setup work for you. Thank you. |
