Axial Trail Breaker 35t... Thoughts?

Looking to get a new motor, was looking for some insight on this motor. I'm old school and was just going to get a integy 35t, they been reliable in the past.

Just wondering if anyone has ran this motor and their thoughts.

It's a nice motor, decent amount of torque. I run it on 3s in my Wraith

Hey, I just bought a trail breaker 35t. And i can't seem to figure out which side is which (+ or -)? I don't want to wire this thing up wrong.

Well I kinda figured it out on my own. Can't wait to see how this thing crawls.

Don't buy Axial electronics. They don't make any of them. You can find the same thing with the OEM brand for half the price.

Eventually that is my plan to get a Holmes hobbies torque master expert. But I got the axial trail breaker to make sure I want a 35t motor and to have as a spare if needed. Plus I didn't have the extra $50 for the holmes hobbies right now and I got the axial for 20 bucks.

we've had a rash of these motors coming back lately. bad bearings locking up to end bells melting or getting hot enough for the spring posts to pull out and same for the brush shunt hold downs.

These are the same issues I had with samples from the OEM. The quality just doesn't fill the gap between sealed can and Sagami machine wound. Actually got better performance and life out of the sealed cans, unless we are just wanting to fill gaps in trash cans :ror:

Even though we aren't known for lower price point motors, we do have them!

Holmes Hobbies LLC

Those aren't terrible motors either. Better than any other motor at that price point I'll guarantee for sure. A friend I run with has one in the 35 turn flavor and it works great on 3s.

Well hopefully this will get me through this summer and if it has not crapped out by then I'll throw it on my little girls 1.9 wraith and I'll be buying (2) Holmes 35t
1-for my Wroncho and 1- for my scx10. Probably a the best way to spend a little cash on the rigs.

I see people mentioning 3s for the Holmes motors. Are 3s recommended for them or will they still preform on 2s?

There's nothing inherent about the Holmes motors that requires 3s, they'll run just fine on 2s. Higher voltage is more efficient so many people run 3s (or higher) and gear down for the desired wheel speed.

Re: Axial Trail Breaker 35t... Thoughts?

All good information. Brushed motors seem to wear faster on lipos, then add a 3s I'm sure even quicker. I'm also on a budget or else I'd pull the trigger on a HH motor. I do also want to stay away from sealed motors. Regardless of brand. They all wear quick. I have had great luck with the Integy series. No disrespect towards John @ HH. Bunch of guys I run with have spoken highly of them. Was just curious of the performance of the Axial ones.

I've had a good 6 runs on the axial 27t stock motor and already can tell the loss of performance running 2s. May get a little more life from it now I've got a BEC hooked up.

Yup. Although I first ran my 35 turn brood axle buster with the same gearing as the integy 35 turn I was replacing. The motor was good but not "oygawdwtf!" Like I expected. Even on 4s it wasn't crazy. I bumped the gearing up a touch and wow... Mothfukkle is crazy.

My next motor and speedo will come from jrh/HH.
