Default 7.4v bec for rig running 3s?

I have an axial rr10 bomber running stock electronics besides a hitec hs-5685 servo I regrettably bought per the lhs owner's suggestion when I turned down a 100$ servo he suggested. The servo is higher quality, but not really any stronger than the stock one atm. The servo is rated for up to 7.4 volts with 180 oz of torque (which is still puny, but sounded good compared to the 8 year old 8lb rig I had been driving with a hitec hs645mg). I don't know if I should even bother finding a special bec to get 7.4 volts to the servo, but not the reciever, and also step the voltage down from the 3s pack I run.

Do people run 7.4 volt servos in their crawlers these days, or still 6 volt? Debating on finding a stronger 6v servo and getting a simpler bec. If that is the best option, does anyone have any suggestions for one under 100$. This rig is a crawler and trail rig fyi.

I run savox sg1231 which is rated at 7.4v its around $75 and I have had great luck and I use 3s batteries with the bec set to 7.4 to get the most out of that servo.

Where do you get a BEC like that? I haven't had any luck searching myself.

Lots of guys use the CCBEC.
I make a plug and play BEC that you can order from me and I can preset to 7.4 volts if you ask.
No Brainer BEC
Note how it is set up to only supply the higher voltage to the steering servo and therefore no concern about running a higher voltage to other components that might not need it.

Are you sure that is the servo you are using? Looked it up and didn't see it rated for more than 6V

I made a deal with the wife and now I'm going to get the savox 1230. Going to use the castle bec as I need to order a castle link to be able to program my original mamba max esc, and the castle bec is cheaper + free 2 day shipping from amazon (I have prime).

The Savox voltage specifications do not reflect what you claim.

Savox SA1231SG Digital Servo

I run the Savox SA1230SG ...still 6v according to the Savox specs.

Savox SA1230SG Digital Servo

Maybe it's safe to push 7.4v
but I'll doubt it increases the torque/speed output ratings.
And even if it did...
would likely reduce the servo's consumable life expectency.

I have a 7.4v heyok bec, not the no brainer, I don't even remember it's on the rig or even have need to think about it.

Avoid the BEC crap and get a direct power servo.

I have a couple of those. Even though they are 6 volts they need amps. IF you haven't ordered them don't. The power fades as you use it, like all the other Savoxs I have or have had.

The 3 Bros g11 ($50) I had was much better than the Savox 1230 even though the Savox is rated at more torque. When it comes to torque ratings I really think Savox is full of shit with their claims.

It is a 6volt servo, if you are referring to the 1230. It will be interesting to see how long it takes that much power.
