Default HH Puller Pro 3500kv standard owners?

How are you all liking the torque, startup crawl-ability and top speed of the motor? Thinking going with a HH esc or a mmx...any suggestions on the esc? I was about to pull the trigger on a combo but decided I would check here first!!

You won't be disappointed. I like the Holmes BLE because of the quiet mode, and you can always add an MMP fan if you need the extra cooling (I did this for my 13lb CXT build).

That's the exact combo I have - HH PP 3500 with a BLE and I love it. I don't have any heat issues pushing around my 10lb Wraithzilla plus the BLE comes waterproofed from Holmes. If there is a better all-around combo for smooth crawling, tons of torque and speed then I haven't found it.

I have this combo also. It is very smooth and makes gobs of power. I would highly recommend it.

Alright guys! Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'll be ordering up a HH ble and a 3500kv standard next week. I'm already running hd under drive diff gears and axial universals. What am I gonna blow up first with this motor that I ought to upgrade
Was thinking driveshafts but I'm reading mixed reviews on the mip's.

Yeh 12/64 32pitch plastic on 3s.

Do I need to purchase a sensor wire or does it come ready to plug and play when I purchase the HH BLE esc?

Also, for the time being I'm running the stock receiver and hand controller(tactic). Do you think I'm going to have an issue not being able to adjust my throttle curve on the hand controller? Thanks guys! Getting pretty excited about this.

Here's my brothers wraith and my bomber; we're both getting the same HH combo!!

Get a castle link to tweak the ESC. Motor comes with a sensor cable.

I got a castle link (...it's actually the field card), but I haven't had to adjust anything except how much I pull the trigger. I think the brakes are a 'lil strong though.

By the way I have this combo in my I/S wraith.

Well was ready to order Sunday night but I broke a gear pin on my 7950th servo :( Gonna order another one and send the broken one in to HiTec. Always something with this RC addiction.

I too am considering picking up another Holmes 3500, I already have a 3500xl in a Bomber that is a beast. Not the best for crawling (and it is not indented to be) but holy crap is it strong in the Bomber!

I think the normal 540 can 3500 with a Mamba Max X for on the fly drag brake will be just the ticket in my class 2 scx. John Holmes makes some very strong motors...

Well I've been doing more and mor reading on the HH Puller Pros, and now I'm leaning towards the 2700kv motor for more control at slow speeds on 3s and when I wanna go full retard I can just slap a 4s pack in and rip and tear even faster than the 3500kv, which is limited to 3s only as I understand it. So to me, it seems like The 2700kv has a touch more versatility. Or so that's how I'm interpreting things.

I'd love to hear from someone who has run both the 2700 and 3500's.

I have the 3500 xl and standard powered by MMX. Love them both. I use the standard more as it has better start up and all around more versatile. It has plenty of power to do standing backflips. The XL is for the sand dunes or big hill climbs. You cant go wrong with HH. I personally don't know how the 2700 would be. I was temped to do 2100 on 4S.

I've heard people are running 4s on the standard 3500kv.

Are your one of those people? Hahaha. The reason behind the higher kv's not being "able" to run 4s is because of the excessive amperage draw it puts on the esc causing heat issues? Is that righ?

Lol no I'm not. The reason is because the rotor cant handle over 50k rpm. But like mr holmes has mentioned is a standard sized motor isn't able to reach that 50k limit under load and driving conditions. So your able to run 4s but I would think if your just going for speed runs, I wouldn't try it. But just in a crawler or basher you can probably get away with it since your not testing how fast it will go. So it might be luck or the rotor can actually handle more then 50k rpm. Maybe holmes can chime in and further explain it.

The voltage recommendation doesn't max out the motors. 3500kv will take 4s, 2700 will take 5s, 2200kv 6s. But systems get finicky and easy to destroy without very detailed testing at those voltages. Possible, but not generally recommended.

I'll add this, my 2200kv Puller Pro on 4s is so much more fun than my 3500kv on 3s. I'm in love with this motor after feeding it 4s. It still has the same awesome low speed control and incredible power when you open her up. I think if more people tried this they would instantly be hooked. I found a great 4s battery from SMC that fits into the same space as all my other 4000 and 5000 mah batteries and it's still 3600 mah. Plenty of juice for almost 2 hours of crawling and the occasional ridiculous display of excessive power. Holmes (and 4s) FTW!

I've got the 3500kv 540 in my Bomber and love it. Paired with a BLE. It's a great system and crawls very smoothly, and on 3s it's almost too fast. I wouldn't change a thing. I've run it on 4s for short periods of time this winter/spring when it was cold and holy shit. Don't think they make parts that could stand up to that kind of steady abuse.
