|  Whats more important for performance? Esc or Motor?
Hi guys, during my research into brushed electronics for my scalers I've been wondering - whats more important - an ok budget esc (such as a hobbywing or ae-2) coupled with a really nice motor (i.e crawlmaster pro) or go with a really nice esc (brxl/fxr) with an ok 10-25 dollar motor (i.e rc4wd/integy)? Whats the best bang for buck in terms of allocating budget?

Better motor and lower quality ESC will perform better than other way around. Just select an ESC with drag brake, that is the biggest feature that crawlers need. The AE2 will be a good and very adjustable choice.

I've been very happy with HobbyWing 1060s in my crawlers. They're supposed to be the same as an AE5, but a lot cheaper. I usually run 35T RC4WD motors with them, but my Sawback has a 45T and my SCX10 has a 55T. 3S batteries on all of them.

I 2nd the ae-2.. Cheap reliable and adjustable.. I run mine on 3s with no problems.. Like Holmes said, get a decent motor(Holmes)
