| GoolRC 120A 1/8 sensored esc Good?
Hi I'm looking at a cheaper end esc to throw in my yeti and this 1/8 scale esc looks like it could hold up (I only plan on using 2s or 3s). It can use up to 6s but it's hard to find info on it. I just want it know if anyone has tested this esc. I've done some research and this is a relabeled hobbystar esc and they both use the same software. But I want to see if anyone has had hand on experience with it. Thanks. Last edited by MM5150; 07-21-2016 at 05:04 PM. |

This caught my eye on Amazon, as well as GoolRC's motors. The prices are what I was skeptical about.

I have run their smaller esc and motors. Good bang for the buck. That said I have no complaints , BUT they are not a castle or tekin quality at that price

Here's the link https://www.ebay.com/itm/141997961600 I did some more research. this guy did a review and he said the newer 120 and 150 amp esc's are great. He said they were very smooth and ran very cool after bashing the hell out of it. He liked it as much as his Tekin rx8. I'm gonna pull the trigger and race with it in my yeti. I'm only using 2 and 3s anyways.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by THX_138; 07-27-2016 at 08:12 AM. |

How did the Gool ESC work out for you? I've been looking at budget-friendly electronics and this brand always pops up.

Just got it today. I ran it. It works pretty well and my motor is a lot smoother and more powerful with it. It runs cool on 2s no problems. I like it so far Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sometimes the reverse has a slight delay, but other than that it's good so far. I'm gonna go race with it at the U4RC Nationals this weekend so I'll let you guys know how it does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Correction. The esc does NOT have a delay. I found out that my new transmitter had an issue. After I fixed it. The esc responded perfectly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So I raced with this esc at the U4RC Nats. And I gotta say is did GREAT. I love it so much it gets the job done and some. The programming features are great on it and once I had it tuned in , I was dialed. Even though I didn't make it all the way to the A-main,(got 5th in LCQ) my car still performed great. There were so many cars in my class and i kept getting stuck in clog up in the rock. But I'm my previous heats I was holding the lead for every race and then knocked down to third because of mechanical issues. This is including 8-10 cars on the track. Anyways, the esc ran cool and smoothly and worked with my sensorless motor in the rocks very well. I really consider this esc to anyone that wants to get it because it's up to the abuse. I also know it's at least splash-proof(got it covered in mud) but it might be waterproof too though. Not sure. But it's a great esc so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wouldn't call them smooth starting, the sensored and sensorless units I've tested have minimum output of 25% battery voltage. So running 3s is about 3 volts to start up the motor, or about 10,000 rpm with a 3500kv puller. Switch to a mamba monster x, 250 rpm startup sensored. Just a little unsmooth : lol: maybe newer units are better? |

They've definitely updated this one. It's a rebrand of another brand that first made it. But it is very smooth from what It felt like driving it through the rocks. And I really don't have the money to spend 120$. This esc for 48$ I couldn't beat it. I took the chance and it runs well. Btw the actual brand of it was a hobbystar. I am having reverse issues. I have tried 3 different remotes and a servo tester with 2 different receivers. All experience intermittent reverse issues. Did you just replace the transmitter? No other changes? Thanks. | |
