Default Another 2s vs 3s vs 4s runtime question

OK. we know that a higher cell count is supposed to give a longer run time because of this:

Power = Volts x Current. Ex: 11.1V x 5.0A = 55.5 Watts , 7.4V x 5.0A = 37 Watts, ect.
But thats at the batteries nominal voltage and not what is actually going to the motor during "normal use".

If I have a truck and do nothing but increase cell count and continue to drive around at the same ground speed lets say the motor is receiving 5 volts, does a higher cell count still make a difference?

Am I comparing apples and coconuts?

I normally run 3s but am dying to try 4s.

Thanks! (this is something Ive struggled with for a long time now...)

When making the switch to 3s then to 4s I noticed my run times increased significantly in every case with All other factors being equal. Another great side effect to increased voltage was cooler motor and ESC. Win win.

Default Another 2s vs 3s vs 4s runtime question

I just did another google search about this and found I had posted a very similar question back on 5/15!!

getting old sucks...

Most motors will increase in efficiency if you increase voltage but maintain the same RPM/load. If not, then it's a function of how many Watt-hours are in the battery. mAh * voltage / 1000 = Wh. 4000 * 7.4 / 1000 = 29.6 Wh; 4000 * 11.1 / 1000 = 44.4 Wh.

If you're a drinking man, cell count is how strong the drink is & mAh is how many drinks there are. 1 shot drank slowly will be similar to 5 "non-alcoholic" beers.

Have another drink, throw in the 4s and hope you don't burn the biotch down.lol. Seriously though, make sure your esc can handle whatever you wanna throw @ it. Just cause you can fit it in there doesn't mean they can handle it!haha
