Default My motor is toast?

I have been running a Hackmoto 35t and Hobbywing 1060 esc in my budget sporty build. The gearing is the same as ax10 deadbolt since the aksels and gearbox is from my deadbolt. I have been running this setup the last year on 3s and been happy with it.

Today the engine got real HOT and started to smell burnt.
Why does this happend suddenly, and is the engine toast?

suddenly?? You said you been running it for a 1yr... how long are the brushes?
Motor might be able to be saved.. by rebuilding it.
How much was motor when bought new?

Just googled the motor.. I would just toss it in the trash and order a new one... it's a 15.00 motor...
Before you buy a new motor make sure there's nothing inside the motor like grass/brush that's cousing the burning smell

I will be buying a new motor. I do like the speed of the 35t but wondering if it would better with a 45t. Less strain on the engine? My gearing is 87/20.

Any tip on a good budget motor? If there is such a thing?

I a complete noob on this.

IMO your pinion is way to big.. that's why your motor smoked... 14t to 16t pinion.

EBay Goolrc 11.00 35t motor...

They look like integy and RC4wd 35turn motors. Armatures may be different in all three motors. But for $11 might be worth a shot if you're looking for a budget motor

Thats the same motor as the Hackmoto V2 that i have now. I think this motor is sold under numerous brandnames.
I will try out some different pinions.

The Holmes hobbies crawlmaster expert might be an option. Thats not that expensive.
