$200 is rough. The "go fast" and "basher" crowds will eat this up. Can't see it being too popular in our segment.

Looks cool but I don't like that its limited to certain cells and kv. Also says ROC412'HD'? Hmmm.... |

| Re: Tekin RX4 Intriguing indeed, I'd try out the RX4, but the $200 tag is a little on the steep side, but we can speculate all we want until its out and tested and abused by the public about the performance. The ROC HD does have my Paypal spend money now button finger twitching a little. |

It's cheaper than an RX8 which a lot of guys are running. Use the coupon at Stormer or Tower and it'll be under $200 (around $180). And it's a Tekin so you know you'll have top of the line.

| Re: Tekin RX4
a couple/few days ago I had posted this in the Castle sensored motor thread: "Tekin is also an excellent company, but it seems like these days people are more often just buying their motors for offroading and not their ESCs, which simply point to them possibly needing to also release a new product that fills a need. I personally think the more competition the better, and Tekin would be smart to engineer and release a modern offroad-specific ESC with up-to-date features in a reasonable-sized waterproof housing." I do NOT have Gypsy blood, read palms or tarot cards, or have a crystal ball! Good on them for releasing this, price will probably drop with time. My only issues are that they don't mention on-the-fly drag brake adjustment capability and then this last bit of specification does make me wonder: 3s Lipo up to 3100kV There are people running HH Puller Pro 3500kv motors on 3S all day long and some brave souls even running them on 4S through other existing ESCs. Hmmm... For my usage level - it would work fine, but it's $75 too much taking those issues into account. I do like it, though - do a giveaway , Tekin! Last edited by durok; 11-02-2016 at 07:00 PM. |

With a decent motor, you're $300-350 in for a limited combo, or part of an RX8. Why not get an RX8? Also, it notes ROC412 and ROC412HD motors. More new motors? |

Neat esc but that's a lot of money for not a lot of performance. Lots of companies make waterproof esc's comparable to that for a lot less money. don't think I'll ever understand a real need for on the fly drag brake adjustment. 100% drag brake 100% of the time on all my rigs whether it's a crawler or beater with a big 1/8 scale power plant on 4s it's all the same. If you don't let off the throttle fully the brakes don't kick in. |

50% drag brake in my Bomber and I endo the thing all the time... I try to remember to stay in the throttle but that doesn't happen.

I only brought it up because it's a feature that can be used (if desired) on an existing competitor that also will run a higher kv motor on more cells... We are in agreement that it's not offering as much as some for the money. Admittedly, my RR10 build will be my first crawler, and with no experience using drag brake I wanted to cover my bases. I may very quickly realize that I also don't ever want to turn it off! |

I can see the brake adjustment being useful if racing something like 1/8 scale buggy and traveling to different tracks where changes are warranted but for bashing it's pretty over rated. | ||

Meh. Right now you can pick up a Mamba Monster X for less than $130 shipped, and it can handle 6s and actually auto detect lipo cell count. Too little too late Tekin. I am interested in the Roc412HD

I know the footprint is entirely different and well just different all together but my Hobbywing/Leopard 8S ESC for my Losi 5 was only $160. After paying what was suppose to be top shelf $$ for an ESC (RX8 G2) and it being worse than Jato's MMX experience i will pass but thanks for the link.

I'll be all over this. Been using Tekin for 25 years and have RX8 gen 2's in all my racers with zero issues. They also take a massive beating in my 4x4 SCT on 2s.

| Re: Tekin RX4 It's closer to being a crawler than I've ever had! Nuthin' but Tamiya, Associated, Losi, and Traxxas before. Was going to buy one of the first Axial crawlers when my whole apartment complex caught on fire 7 years ago... Lost a dozen modified and upgraded rigs and all my equipment and tools... Ouch! As a seasoned Tekin owner, other than factory waterproofing, what is the excitement of this unit versus the RX8? I still see less specs for same or more price. | |
