No problem with the wires. If you plug it in backwards it just won't work. Power is always in the middle.

Yeah, I expected to just compare the connector to one with colored wires to figure out which way to install it. Wasn't positive that hooking up backwards might not cause a problem. But I think I've installed servos backwards before without magic smoke.

Still -- what were they thinking? Wires are color coded for a reason. But if that's the only problem I ever have with this servo, I'll be a happy camper.

The all black looks clean. Everything plugs into an RX the same way...not like its some kind of crazy proprietary plug or something.

Back in my day not only did manufacturers use different color codes but there were different plugs and different pin outs so plugs would need to be changed and you'd better know the schematic for that manufacturer and plug!

The exposed pin area of the plug always goes up when looking at the receiver.

A friend of mine just bought and installed one of these and we got to put it to the test over the weekend. A lot of the days run ended up being a, "Watch this thing!" event. It is incredibly strong, completely silent, never even got warm, and even looks awesome. I'm sold, this will absolutely be my next servo. The price is high but if it lasts a year, I'd say it's totally worth it.

Don't quite follow that, but I guess it depends on which receiver. I was going to go by "the exposed pin area should point the same direction as all the others" and see if it works properly.

Up to now I've used Hitec 7950s. The only remaining advantage I see to the Hitec is the 2-yr warranty. With what I do, a servo never lasts 2 years so I got a lot of value out of that long warranty. Didn't look at the Savox warranty, but most other companies only go 1 year. But hey, maybe these will last longer than the 7950s. We'll have to see.

I think he is trying to say that they are all wired the same and all receivers I believe plug the same way. Black is always to the outside. This means the exposed plug part is always facing the same way. You don't need to know what color the wires are.

I have found the 7950's to be weak. This should be much stronger.

Indeed. Look at the plug and you'll see that one side has the pins exposed. All receivers I can think of are the same with channel 1 on the bottom, 2 above it and so on.

I agree about the 7950 too. Plastic casevwith weak with Ti coated aluminum gears that get sloppy. I'll take an aluminum case with steel gears and more power every day.

My 2290 replaced a 7950. The Savox is FAR more powerful. After 3+ hours of running at 7.5v on my C2, it isnt even warm.

I absolutely will never run another servo. I've been absolutely killing 2 of these servo's. I was at a burn rate of 2 to 3 servo's a month(running 1270's). Since the 2290 installed on my bomber it has been running awesome. After smoking a futaba on my B1b, replaced it with a 2290, and haven't had an issue since. Both are solid steering/ go fast type trucks that get flogged. I saved the price of the servo twice since running it.

My plug is marked. No one else is seeing this on theirs?

I just ordered myself one of these to go in my old bully axled moa crawler. Its quite a heavy beast due to the axles.
It will be replacing a savox 1256tg which is much weaker. Its been a good servo though. Still works fine, just lacks some power to turn the front wheels lock to lock when all the weight is on them (e.g. when front wheels are up over a ledge trying to pull the back up). Did I mention my rig is heavy?
I paid about $151usd, shipped to New Zealand, with a free t-shirt from amain.
I hope it performs.
